The present invention is a gate valve for regulating the flow of liquids and comprising a piston spool which is provided with openings and is movable axially with respect to a resilient bush held in place by the valve cover. valve. This valve is characterized in that the piston slide has a device which, when the valve is closed, presses against the top of the sleeve without moving relative to it, so that this sleeve is clamped against the drawer. piston without producing a grating effect.
The object of the invention is to improve gate valves of the type in which a hollow cylinder is axially movable in an elastic sleeve. The hollow cylinder was provided with an enlargement which was to come into contact with the sleeve, in order to compress it and close the passage of the liquid. But the friction between said rotating enlargement and the bush caused wear of the parts in contact. According to the present invention, an additional device is provided which allows the compression of the sleeve by said widening, without there being any slippage between the pressure organ and the sleeve.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, some embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a complete longitudinal section of a first model; Fig. 2, part of this section with a constructive modification, and FIG. of a complete longitudinal section with a second change in the arrangement of the parts.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the valve stem a is screwed into the valve cover b which is also held in place by a thread in the valve body c. The rod has at its lower end a piston slide d which can slide into a sleeve g made of rubber or other suitable material. The socket is provided with lights f arranged at different heights and which are closed by the socket for as long as the rod is in a position where these lights are below the base of the socket. This is held in place on its seat in the body c by the lower edge of the cover b.
Holes k are provided in this part of the cover to allow water to pass when the rod is in its raised position. This part of the construction is already known. The rod a has a collar j on which a spindle can turn. ring h provided with an annular groove and which rests on the upper surface of the sleeve G. This ring can move up and down freely in the space l formed between the internal thread of the cover c and the sleeve d.
If the rod is brought to its lower position, the ring h tightens the sleeve g and the latter being lo ged without play between the body c and the spool. piston d, it will be tightened strongly against this drawer and will oppose any valve seepage between the sleeve g and the drawer d.
As the ring can slip by turning on the collar j, it will not slide on the sleeve g during the last moments of the rotating movement of the rod.
In the construction shown in fig. 1, the socket is provided with a conical part, while in the arrangement of FIG. 2, the rubber bush has the shape of a cylindrical ring g 'of constant cross section.
The construction shown in fig. d is what is called the "sanitary" type. Here the rod a no longer has movement in the axial direction. It has a handle n and a cap t which surrounds the cover b everywhere and forms a seal s with a shoulder of the latter.
The rod a cannot rise due to the presence of a collar o retained by a shoulder of the cover b. It is provided at its lower end with a screw u which is taken in the upper threaded part d1 of the piston slide. This upper part also carries outwardly tongues p guided in grooves q formed in the cover b. These tabs prevent the drawer d from rotating.
When turning the handle n, the rod a follows this movement and, given the collar o, is prevented from moving axially. It will, on the other hand, move the piston slide d, dl. This spool has a shoulder r which, when the spool is brought to its lower position, presses on the upper surface of the sleeve g and, by squeezing it, causes its intimate contact with the spool d to prevent any weeping from the closed valve. .
