Description
Leuchtspurgeschoss.
Tracer bullet. In order to be able to successfully fire at more or less rapidly moving targets, in particular also air targets, from machine weapons, the procedure is that in the regular sequence of shots with normal projectiles those are inserted in which the cartridge is a projectile with a Contains flare, which is ignited at the beginning of the flight path or at a certain point of the same and, depending on the setup of the projectile, makes the flight path for this projectile and this shot recognizable by a single or at intervals following lighting or finally in a continuous light trail.
In this firing procedure, the grouping of the cartridges with the corresponding type of bullet in the magazines or in the cartridge belts or other devices that feed the cartridges is usually determined from the outset according to a previously made selection.
In the known shooting methods and devices that are intended to serve the indicated purpose, it is disadvantageous that in fact it is not the trajectory peculiar to the normal projectiles fired with the same increase in the weapon that is important, but that of the light projectile trained, which, depending on their institution, sometimes differs not insignificantly from the others.
In order to achieve a matching trajectory for the various types of projectile, a tracer projectile is now arranged in the order of the cartridges that are standard with machine guns for firing at previously selected intervals, which is used to compensate for the propelling rocket effect of the backward-burning flare the air resistance to adjust its trajectory to that of the normal projectiles causing flattening at the top.
The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention. For example, a tracer bullet B can be arranged in series with normal explosive or armored bullets 9 with ogival tips a1, which contains a back-burning luminous substance b1 and whose projectile body ends in a flat circular flattening b2.
The flattening can also, as indicated by dotted lines, be convex projecting or concave recessed or in some other form of the tip that increases the air resistance of the projectile (e.g. stair-like). In order to compensate for the propulsive rocket effect, by increasing the air resistance it should bring the trajectory of the tracer bullet into line with that of normal bullets.
