Device for closing and tripping an alternating current contactor. Devices are known which make it possible to automatically trigger electrical contactors by means of an electromagnet, the armature of which controls the hooking device of the switch.
In devices of this kind, only the triggering can be done by the electromagnet and we must provide another source of energy to effect the closing of the switch.
The device according to the present invention makes it possible to cause both the closing and the tripping of an alternating current contactor by means of an electromagnet provided with two windings, one main winding of which induces a current in a secondary winding capable of to be closed on itself by a relay.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that the armature of the electromagnet is mechanically connected to the movable part of the contactor to be controlled and that the supply circuit of the main coil of the electromagnet. - magnet includes an inti, switch used to close the contactor.
The attached drawing shows. Simply til rc example, a schematic drawing of a -d'execution of the object of the invention.
On this drawing. the phases are indicated by 1, 2 and 3. P is the movable part of the contactor to be controlled and R denotes a spring or other member tending to move the movable contacts away from the fixed contacts - lines 1,? and 3. The magnetic circuit of the electromagnet is shown in <I> A, </I> its armature in <I> D. </I> Armature D is mechanically connected to. part P, so that, in the position attractAc- of the armature, the contactor is engaged.
The magnetic circuit A carries the main winding Bl and the armature D an auxiliary winding B.
Winding Bl is connected between phases 1 and?. Its power circuit comprises a switch C1, which can be placed at a distance from the contactor; a second switch C2 is connected in parallel with C ,. It is executed as a push button, the spring BE of which automatically opens the circuit as soon as the button is stopped.
On the other hand, the moving contact of switch C2 is integral with the moving part of the contactor, so that this switch closes and opens simultaneously with the contactor P.
The auxiliary winding B2 is supplied with induction currents generated by the winding B i. B2 is connected to a circuit comprising at least one switch C3 which is normally in the open position.
Under the influence of an overcurrent, a thermal relay, for example a bimetallic <I> DEF </I> blade carrying the current of phase 1, deforms in the direction indicated by the arrow F, which has the effect of closing switch C3. A second switch C! controlled by a relay <I> D E F, </I> which is supplied by another phase, can be connected as a bypass of switch C3.
The operation of the -dispositif is as follows: To engage the contactor P, one presses on the contact C, and one thus feeds the winding B, which attracts the armature D. This one being connected mechanically to the par movable tie P of the contactor, the armature attraction force overcomes the resistance opposed by the spring B, and the contactor closes. In its closed position, the latter also establishes contact in switch C2 so that winding B remains powered after the return of contact button C,
. The contactor trips automatically as soon as it occurs, either a lack of voltage, an overcurrent or a short circuit.
If the voltage drops in the phases, the. force of attraction. exerted by the winding B, on the armature D decreases and the spring R opens the contactor P.
On the other hand, when the current intensity exceeds a certain value for which the thermal relay has been set, the. blade <I> D E P </I> or <I> D E F '</I> deforms and closes switch C3 or C3'. The circuit of the winding B. being thus closed, the winding B, induces a current in the opposite direction, the magnetic action of which opposite to that of the winding B, is added to the force of the spring. B. The armature D is detached from the electromagnet _4 and causes the triggering of the contactor P.
The latter, by triggering, opens the switch C. and thereby cuts off the power supply to the winding B i.
It should be noted that if the switch C2 was canceled, the spring BE 4.e the switch C, should also be deleted.
