La montre est articulée à la. boîte par une charnière 9 qui permet (le l'incliner par rapport à la boîte, et elle peut être maintenue en position inclinée ait moyen d'une pièce de retenue 10 articulée à la face postérieure de la montre; elle constitue alors une pendu lette.
Lorsque l'on veut avoir l'heure, il suffit d'actionner le bouton 8 de manière que la pièce d'arrêt libère la pièce cylindrique 5 qui se met à tourner sous l'action du ressort 6 et entraîne le volet 4 qui s'enroule sur elle et découvre le cadran de la montre. Lorsque l'on veut refermer la montre, il suffit de tirer le volet avec la main de manière kt l'amener en position fermée, ce qui tend en même temps le ressort 6.
L'articulation 3 permet d'ouvrir la boîte pour réparations éventuelles.
La boîte représentée par la fib. 6 présente un volet constitué par un filet à mailles; les mailles ne sont pas représentées au dessin.
Les fig. 6 et 7 représentent une boîte comportant trois parties<B>13,</B> 14 et 15, arti culées par des charnières 16 et<B>17.</B> Un barillet 11 auquel est fixé une extrémité du volet est disposé dans la partie 15 inférieure de la boîte et présente à l'une des ses extré mités des dents 1? entre lesquelles pénètre la pièce d'arrêt. Le volet passe par-dessus un organe de guidage 18 pouvant pivoter dans la partie supérieure 13 de la boîte. L'or gane d'arrêt est disposé dans la partie in férieure de la boîte.
Le volet peut présenter sur un côté de sa face intérieure des évidements 19 (voir fig. 8) dans lesquels peuvent s'introduire les dent de la couronne de la montre, ce qui permet le remontage de cette dernière lorsque l'on ferme le volet.
Le volet peut aussi être constitué par une simple lame mince et souple. Le volet peut. aussi être constitué par un filet à. mailles.
Le barillet peut présenter une ou plu sieurs séries de dents s'engageant dans des ouvertures du volet de manière à le faire glisser sur le fond de la boîte sans qu'il s'en roule.
La boîte, de forme plate, peut être plus longue que large ou plus large que- longue; elle peut d'ailleurs différer, comme contour, de ce qui est. représenté; elle peut être en toutes matière:, métal, bois, cuir, nacre, être unie, décorée, émaillée, oxydée.

The articulation 3 allows the box to be opened for possible repairs.

Figs. 6 and 7 show a box comprising three parts <B> 13, </B> 14 and 15, articulated by hinges 16 and <B> 17. </B> A barrel 11 to which one end of the shutter is fixed is arranged in the lower part of the box and has teeth 1 at one end thereof. between which the stop piece enters. The flap passes over a guide member 18 which can pivot in the upper part 13 of the box. The stopper is placed in the lower part of the box.
The shutter may have on one side of its inner face recesses 19 (see fig. 8) into which the teeth of the crown of the watch can be inserted, which allows the latter to be wound when the shutter is closed. .
The shutter can also be formed by a simple thin and flexible blade. The shutter can. also be constituted by a net to. mesh.
The barrel may have one or more series of teeth engaging in openings in the shutter so as to slide it on the bottom of the box without it rolling away.
The box, flat in shape, may be longer than wide or wider than long; it can, moreover, differ, as an outline, from what is. represented; it can be in any material :, metal, wood, leather, mother-of-pearl, be plain, decorated, enamelled, oxidized.
