Description

Propulsion device for ships with at least two propeller shafts, especially those with a shallow draft. The invention relates to a drive device of ships with at least two propeller shafts, in particular of sol surfaces with a shallow draft.

Especially in the case of ships that have to carry tug trains, the installation of a large capacity is required if the permissible draft is low. In such cases, a single-shaft drive is impossible due to the restriction imposed on the choice of the propeller diameter, and at least two propeller shafts must therefore be provided for the transmission of the prescribed power. On the other hand, it is uneconomical in such vehicles, both in terms of acquisition costs and in terms of fuel consumption, to have to provide a special drive machine for each propeller shaft.

These various circumstances are now taken into account by the fact that in ships with at least two propeller shafts, according to the invention, a drive machine common to the propeller shafts drives these shafts, which are each provided with a reversing clutch, via a reduction gear.

In the drawing, two embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are schematically illustrated and for example illustrated, namely: Fig. 1 shows a drive device of a ship with two propeller shafts, in which the gear wheels of the two shafts work together with a common pinion, and Fig. 2 shows a drive device , in which a special pinion is provided on the drive shaft for each propeller shaft.

In the figures, P1 and P2 denote two propeller shafts and A is a drive machine common to these two shafts, which according to FIG. 1 has a pinion R1, as well as the gear Z, the shaft P1 and via the pinion R1, and the gear Z2, the shaft P2 drives. Each propeller shaft is thus driven from machine A via a reduction gear. Each propeller shaft is also equipped with a reversing clutch k1, respectively. K2 equipped, which enables the provision of a prime mover of simple construction in that it only needs to be built for running in one direction of rotation. The provision of the reversing clutches K1, K2 also enables the one propeller shaft to be set for forward travel and the other at the same time for reverse travel, which gives the ship great maneuverability.

The prime mover can be a steam turbine, a piston engine, an internal combustion engine or the like.

The embodiment shown in Fig. 2 differs from the first un only by the fact that for each propeller shaft Pl, P2 a special pinion R1 respectively. R2 is provided. The invention can also easily be used in ships with more than two propeller shafts, with a common drive machine also being provided for all propeller shafts and a reduction gear and a reversing clutch for each shaft.
