Body roofing for motor vehicles. Tensioning a collapsible roof over a motor vehicle causes much effort and labor in all of the systems known to date. With large vehicles such as post automobiles, Car-Alpins and similar vehicles, it has taken the driver almost half an hour of great effort to get the cloth over the seats.
The purpose of the roofing according to the invention is to shorten the duration of this work and to design it in such a way that it can be done with the aid of the motor. The convertible top has bows running on side rails, and these bows are connected by toggle-like double links, the individual connecting links of which form knee joints which only allow the links to buckle outwards and to which the convertible top cover is fastened.
The accompanying drawing shows a bus roof as an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention. Therein shows: Fig. 1 schematically the general arrangement with the extended top, Fig. 2 the top folded in half, Fig. 3 the same completely folded together, Fig. 4 and 5 show the attachment of the top cover to the bows, and Fig. 6 and 7 the shape of the guidance of the bow.
According to Fig. 1, the bus has a known design with two side frames 1, between the stand 2 glass windows are arranged ver slidably and on both sides with a rail 3 connecting these stands, which at the same time forms the guide for the bow 5 carrying the top cover 4. The rails are tubular and have a longitudinal slot 6 (Fig. 6) on the top for the bow feet. These are guided by means of cylindrical blocks 7 in the tubular rails 3 and arranged to be movable by means of cables. On each side of the wagon, a cable 8 is endlessly wound up on a winding drum 10 arranged next to the rear seat 9 of the wagon and guided over an end roller 11 at the front.
The guide blocks 7 of the bows of each side of the car are loosely lined up on the two cable strands, the strand leading to the roller 11 and the strand returning from the roller 11, and for this purpose have two corresponding through-holes 12. However, the foremost bow is on each side of the car 13 firmly connected to the one cable harness and serves as a tug for the other bows on this page by taking this bows with the help of the connecting top when turning the winch in one direction when bringing the top and when turning the winch in the in the other direction for folding the top, the other bows come together.
In the example shown, five bows specific for the straight part of the tops in the longitudinal members leads, while two bows 14 and 15 specific for the top of the rear end of the car are held by pivotably mounted arms 20, 21. Of these, the arms 20 are stored near their lower ends in bearings 17 ge, with tension springs 18 attached to their lower ends strive to straighten the arms. Nearly above their pivot point, longer arms 21 are articulated on the arms 20 at 19, which are intended to support the angled part of the top with their spar 15.
The greater length of the arms 21 is dimensioned so that when the bow 15 is folded together it forms the base for the outwardly thrown folds of the covering cover held by the bow above it (FIG. 3). In order to ensure that the top cover is regularly folded outwards between the bows when it is folded together, toggle-type double links are connected to two adjacent bows as well as articulated between them. There are stops 23 at the knee joints of the individual links 22, to prevent the folds from bending inwards. The top cover 4 is attached to the knee joints.
The winch drums 10 are operated by means of a crank, for which a hole, not shown, is provided on the outside of the carriage wall for inserting the crank. Any type of translation can be used.
Instead of round cables, flat braided cables or other flexible pulling elements can also be used with some before, and the device for folding the cover cover can also differ from the drawing.
In order to secure the tensioning of the upper top surface as flat as possible, the attachment of the top cover to the knee joints on the folding edges provided between the bows can be limited.
Instead of at the back of the car, the winch could also be mounted at the front and be in such a connection with the motor that the force for tensioning the roof can be taken from the motor.
