Apparatus for supplying disinfectant to water closet cuvettes or other cuvettes to be disinfected. The method of introducing a disinfectant into. a water closet or other basin to be disinfected by loading the disinfectant in a box perforated at its lower end and closed at its upper end by a movable cap and housed in the flushing tank below the normal level water is not economical and to eliminate this drawback, it has been proposed to connect a disinfectant container which is solid in its upper and lower parts to the water discharge pipe of the flushing tank,
so that a portion of the discharge water enters said container during discharge to load there with a dose of disinfectant and return, thus loaded with disinfectant, into the discharge pipe and flow out of it. there at. the place to be disinfected.
In devices constructed on this basis, where the dose of disinfectant is determined by the dissolving action of the water on the solid matter in the container, there is necessarily a waste of disinfectant, even if the container is provided with an inner box open at its upper end and having perforations at its lower end through which water in the container can reach the solid disinfectant placed in the inner box.
The object of the present invention is an apparatus for supplying disinfectant to water closet cuvettes or other cuvettes to be disinfected, which is economical from the standpoint of disinfectant consumption and can be easily refilled when on </ B > disinfectant- is exhausted.
This apparatus comprises a water container arranged to be connected in its upper and lower parts to a flushing discharge pipe * and a disinfectant box inside this container, provided, in its lower part , perforations arranged to allow the water in the container to have access to the disinfectant contained in the box, this box being, with the exception of said perforations, hermetically closed on all sides and the container has an outlet at the bottom for the return of liquid from the container to the discharge pipe, which is adjustable by means of an adjustment device established for this purpose.
Under these conditions, when the water escapes in the container at the level of the perforations of the box, it arrives through the latter to the solid disinfectant contained in the box, but since there is no escape for the air in the box containing the disinfectant, the amount of water that can enter it is limited. By adjusting, on the other hand, the outlet of the liquid from the container to the discharge pipe, the result is obtained that the mass of water loaded with disinfectant only flows into the bowl when the flushing has ceased to function.
The device for adjusting the outlet of liquid from the container. can advantageously be set up so that the outlet can be adjusted and maintained in a suitable condition without appreciably limiting the entry of water into the container; this is not possible in arrangements where the liquid enters the container and leaves it by the same wise step forming the. only communication between the container and the discharge pipe and which can be adjusted by means of a valve.
The accompanying drawing represents. by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention.
a is a flushing tank, b the discharge pipe leading the water from the tank to the bowl of a water closet and c a receptacle for. disinfectant. The latter here has a cylindrical shape with a conical lower part opening into a tube d discharging into the discharge pipe b. The communication opening of the container c with the tube d is adjustable by means of a screw e allowing the free section of the opening to be adjusted for the return of the liquid to the discharge pipe b.
The disinfectant f is contained in a tubular box g suspended in the container c and having perforations h. at its lower part, while it is hermetically closed at the top by a cover i. This cover is of a larger diameter than the body of the. box so that it rests by its edge on a shoulder or ledge /. an interior neck of the container c. A rib! forming a handle facilitates the introduction and removal of the disinfectant box through this neck. When the disinfectant box is in place, a rr screw cap is screwed into the neck.
This cap is pierced with a hole M which, due to the fact that the cover i of the box g fits freely between the cap ii, and the rim Ic :, allow air to escape from the container c when water arrives in it.
The upper part of the receptacle c communicates with the barge discharge pipe b via a tube o. The latter, as well as the tube d, extend right through the discharge pipe 1> and are connected to it by means of nuts n screwed on their end situated outside this pipe.
A lateral opening p is provided on the upper side of the tube o and a lateral opening (j is made on the lower side of the tube d. Where the tubes il and o pass through the wall of the discharge pipe I), l The sealing is ensured by means of washers ï and s.
The container c can be provided with a pouring or overflow to drain the water from exceeding in the container a determined level located below the orifice serving for the exhaust of air. For the same purpose, the air outlet of the container may be provided with a float valve which closes when the water in the container exceeds a certain level,
or else said orifice may be of a section such that the extent to which the air escapes is not sufficient to allow the container to be filled in full with water during the normal hunting period of water.
The operation of the device is easy to understand. During the discharge of water through pipe b, part of the water enters through opening p of pipe o, which la. collects, in the receptacle c, loads of disinfectant therein and flows out, as soon as the mass of unloaded water has passed through the pipe b. at the end of the hunting or deelrarge period, and thanks to the adjustment of the. exit by means of the screw e. in
