Vehicle headlight. The object of the invention is a vehicle headlight, for example a headlight for a road mobile vehicle.
It comprises, like other known headlights of vehicles, two light sources independent of one another and which can each be switched separately on or off. But it differs from it in this that it has two reflectors forming a single body and each cooperating with one of the light sources, the axis of one of these reflectors being inclined on, horizontal so that the light rays coming out of the corresponding reflector are directed downwards.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the headlight, intended for a road motor vehicle.
Fig. 1 is a vertical section; Fig. 2 is a front view.
The two superimposed reflectors ab of the lighthouse shown have the general shape of paraboloids of revolution - whose axes are cd and are located in a common vertical plane, the axis c being horizontal, while the axis d is slightly inclined on the horizon, so that the rays coming out from it are directed downwards. At their foci are placed the light sources consisting of electric incandescent lamps e f of unequal luminous power, the lamp e being the strongest.
They form a single metallic body provided at its rear part with a device g allowing it to be fixed to the vehicle. They partially penetrate into each other and are separated by a diaphragm 1a. The reflectors a b are closed at the front by a common lens i mounted in an attached frame j. The normal lighting of the road is given by the lamp e and the reflector a which projects on it a light beam with horizontal axis at a great distance; during this time, the lamp f is off.
If it is a question of passing a vehicle and not to dazzle its driver, the lamp e is extinguished and the lamp f is lit; the light rays coming from the reflector b are directed towards the ground, in front of the vehicle, and sufficiently illuminate this ground, without reaching the driver of the vehicle crossed. The two reflectors can be found one â. key side the other, instead of being super posed; they can be made separately and then assembled together to make a single body.
The diaphragm 1a can be omitted. The axis d of the reflector b can, in addition to its inclination on the horizon, make a certain angle with the vertical plane of sy- inei: rie lon -ii: udinal of the vehicle,. in such a way that this reflector illuminates not only right de- vaiii: this vélii.ciile, but also on the side of this one.
The angle of the other reflector can also be inclined on the horizon or make a certain angle with the longitudinal plane of symmetry rin s-éhi <, uIe.
