Abstract
The invention consists of a magnet that is secured to the end of the door stopper and a metal disc that is attached to the door at the point of contact of the door stopper and the door. The magnet will be secured to the end of the door stop on the wall using an adhesive material (silicone or glue material) or double-sided Styrofoam adhesive tape where the door rests when it is fully open. The metal disc will be secured to the door using a double-sided Styrofoam tape. Magnetic Door Securing Device for a Door Stopper, having a magnet attached to the end of the door stopper and a metal disc secured to the base of the door where the door stopper contacts the door, and creating the method to hold the door in place against the door stopper, and using an adhesive material (silicone or glue material) or double-sided Styrofoam adhesive tape to secure the magnet to the stopper and an adhesive tape to secure the metal disc to the door. Although there have been other devices that utilize magnets to hold a door in the fully open position. They are generally made of numerous machined parts that are expensive to manufacture and require periodic maintenance. This invention is designed to be added on to an existing door stop that is already in place in the structure. This can be accomplished in a timely manner and will not require any tools. It is an efficient, practical and cost effective method of securing the door in a fully open position against the door stop. It also provides a low cost and environmentally friendly method of achieving this due to the fact that it is an add-on to the existing door stopper and does not require the purchase of a new door stopper. The use of the double sided adhesive tape to secure the metal disc to the door will allow the metal disc to adjust slightly and make perfect contact if they are not installed so that the surfaces are aligned. This is a significant deviation from previous devices and will allow for slight variations of the alignment during installation and provides a non-mechanical solution to this.
Description
Description of Invention The Magnetic Door Securing Device for a Door Stopper is a device designed to be added to a typical door stopper that is used to prevent a door from hitting the wall when it is opened. This invention is designed to hold the door against the door stopper in a fully open position. It will also prevent the door from closing due to airflow from open windows in the dwelling.
Claims (3)
1. The addition of this device to a typical door stopper to secure the door in a completely open position using the magnetic field of the magnetized disc secured to the door stopper where it contacts the door and a ferromagnetic material secured to the door and comprising;
a magnetized disc (1) attached with an adhesive material (silicone or glue material) or foam core tape with an adhesive surface on both sides (3) to the free end of the door stopper (B) that contacts the door (A) and prevents the door from hitting the wall;
a metal disc (2) that is attached to the door using foam core tape (3) with an adhesive surface on both sides, to provide the method to hold the door secured in an open position where the door stopper (B) contacts the door (A) and prevents the door from hitting the wall when fully open;
a magnetized disc (1) attached with an adhesive material (silicone or glue material) or foam core tape with an adhesive surface on both sides (3) to the free end of the door stopper (B) that contacts the door (A) and prevents the door from hitting the wall;
a metal disc (2) that is attached to the door using foam core tape (3) with an adhesive surface on both sides, to provide the method to hold the door secured in an open position where the door stopper (B) contacts the door (A) and prevents the door from hitting the wall when fully open;
2. A magnetic door securing device for a door stopper as claimed in claim 1 wherein the magnetized disc surface (1) is flat where it contacts the flat metal disc (2) secured to the door (A).
3. A magnetic door securing device for a door stopper as claimed in claim 1 wherein the metal disc surface (2) is flat where it contacts the magnetized disc (1) secured to the free end of the door stopper (B).
