Description
Falafel Flash Fry A- Subject of Patent:
Pre-forming Falafel patties for easy storage, shipping and fast and easy final frying or baking B- Brief Description:
Falafel shops usually form Falafel patties manually or by using an automated forming machine. The Falafel patties are fried completely and are served fresh or used at a later stage and reheated.
The downside of the above is that:
1- It becomes difficult to operate a Falafel franchise offering fresh cooked patties to all customers at all times:
- To do so conventionally, you need a Falafel making expert that knows how to use the manual Falafel patty maker. Having an expert hand-making and frying the Falafel patties is a great additional cost per shop and the end result will vary from shop to shop as the human element will plays a major role.
- To do so using an automated Falafel making machine in each shop will also create an additional cost per shop and keeping the Falafel dough in the machine's container at all time, is both unhygienic and not practical as the dough will eventually cook and dry due to the heat emanating from the fryer.

2- It is difficult to offer baked falafels to customers as the Falafel patties are only fried.
C- Falafel Flash Fry ยจ The process to be patented:
The process I would like to patent addresses both the above limitations and allows for a Falafel franchise concept with a central kitchen to be implemented, marketed and franchised successfully.
Step 1:
Falafel dough is placed in an automated Falafel machine, formed and dropped in oil and fried for around 10 seconds or until the patty is consistent enough to be handled, packed, stored in fridges or freezers and delivered to the various point of sales services by the central kitchen.
Step2:
Individual shops will then fry the formed Falafel patties as needed and on order in a standard deep fryer or bake them in a convection oven to complete the cooking process and serve fresh to customers.
This process can be done by any employee and does not require any experience in manually forming patties.
This process is faster and delivers a more consistent end result across various point of sales.
I will start operating a Falafel shop using this process by end September 2016 and I am afraid that some large corporation might use that same process and shortcut my plans for establishing a franchise.
I do not have the financial resources of a larger company and I need that patent to protect my idea and my investment and while not necessarily revolutionary, this process has never been used before in the preparation of a food product that has been widespread and used in many countries and regions for hundreds of years.
