Abstract

RTFISH is an integrated field (app) and online software (computer) solution designed to alert and help fisherman determine the optimal times and locations where to fish, for a specific species of fish. RTFISH mathematically analyzes real-time and historical water and weather data and compares physical and species-specific biological preferences to calculate the probabilities of a stream, river, lake, reservoir or any monitored body of water, meeting the ideal fishing conditions for any given species of fish.
Traditionally, fisherman have relied on local contacts, or their own personal knowledge of a body of water, to plan for a fishing trip that yields strong numbers of hookups. With RTFISH, any fisher person now has the ability to predict the probability of ideal fishing conditions and locations based on scientific and mathematically-based calculations. This removes the guess-work when predicting the best times and locations to fish based on fishing conditions and provides fisher people with the knowledge to more effectively plan their next fishing trip and prepare themselves with the right baits and fishing techniques necessary to improve their fish catch/hook-up ratio.
RTFISH also provides the platform for social sharing of fishing photos and associated meta data for future use and based on user-preferences defined by the user.
RTFISH combines multiple visuals into a single graphical user interface, complete with real-time water condition graphs, fish success prediction charts, location maps, optimized tackle selections and real-time social media feeds.

Description

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Fishermen invest a great deal of time and money into improving their fishing experience which depends heavily on the quality and volume of fish caught during any given fishing trip, couple with the overall outdoor experience.
= Fisherman rely on word-of-mouth and personal experience to plan for optimal times to fish and to maximize their fish-catch ratio.
= Not all fisherman understand biological factors that directly impact fishing success.
= Many fisherman lack the scientific background to formulated optimal times and best locations to fish based on available water parameters collected in the field.
= People new to fishing, or fisherman new to a region, do not know where to fish - it takes time to build a network and gain trust.
= There is no lack of data, there is lack of easy-to-understand and accessible data = Success hinges on historical and real-time data and a technical understanding of the target species!!!
SCIENTIFIC INFLUENCES AFFECTING FISHING SUCCESS
= Geographic presence, or absence, of fish species in body of water (native, stocked, invasive) = Feeding habits (time of day, time of year, presence of new food sources, seasonal hatches, seasonal spawning runs, etc) = Physical conditions (water temperature, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, velocity, conductivity, salinity, weather, ice, depth) = Seasonal Influences (moon phase, hours in a day, ambient temperatures, etc) = Baits (type, style, size, color, smell, action) = Presentation (fly, trolling, casting, still, etc.) SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
RTFISH is a fully-integrated field and software solution comprised of two distinct software components. The first component is a handheld application, the second component is a website interface. For the purpose of this patent, the handheld component will be referred to as RTFISHPocket. For the purpose of this patent, the website interface will be referred to as RTFISHWeb. Both components together will be referred to as RTFISH.
RTFISHPocket is designed to operate on any IOS or mobile platform.
RTFISHPocket uses the built-in capabilities of the mobile device (i0S, Android, Blackberry) to attached meta data such as:
= geographic coordinates (on river, stream, lake, body of water) = time photo was taken = date photo was taken = fish species captured in photo = # of fish species caught in photo (when multiple fish are captured) = estimated size of fish species capture (using distance triangulation) = geo-referenced waypoint.
RTFISHPocket stores the associated meta data on the handheld device until a network or wifi connection is secured; at which time, and based on user-preferences, will automatically upload the photos and associated meta data to the users personal space found on RTFISHWeb. See figure 1.

RTFISHWeb is an online information management, modeling, analysis, mapping and visualization fishing optimization system that combines a variety of data sources into a single, easy-to-use graphical user interface. RTFISHWeb integrates numerous databases and data sources to predict the optimal times and locations when fishing conditions are ideal for a specific species of group of fish species. RTFISHWeb includes, but is not limited to:
SPECIES RIVERS/LAKES
= Species name = Google Maps, Google Earth = Migration times = Geographic Coordinates = Preferred Spawning = Stocking Programs (details) Temperature = Type of Water Body (river, = Preferred Temperature lake, stream) = Preferred Oxygen Content = Water Body Classification = Preferred Turbidity = Historical Water Quality &
= Preferred Conductivity Levels WEATHER = Real-Time Water Quality &
= Current/Projected Rainfall Levels = Current/Projected Air MAPS
Temperature = Hydrographs (Navionics*
= Current/Projected Snowfall Plugin) = Current/Projected Windspeed = Google Earth* Overlays = Current/Projects Wave = Google Maps*
Heights = Stocking Programs = Current/Projected Moon = Known Fish Populations Phases = Access Points, Boat Ramp, Dams Through probabilistic and analytical modeling methodologies, RTFISHWeb calculates ranges of probabilities that indicate when fishing conditions are optimal to catch fish at a given location. Historical data combined with real-time water and weather data predict the probabilities of water temperature meeting optimal fishing spawn and feeding ranges. RTFISHWeb also predicts optimal fishing lure types and colors, baits and fishing techniques based on calculated and predicted water conditions based on water clarity (turbidity), water temperature, rive heights and associated flow velocities, pH levels etc.
RTFISHWeb is comprised of several distinct elements and designed to consolidate fishing data into a single, easy-to-understand system, complete with real-time water condition graphs, fish success prediction charts, location maps, optimized tackle selections and real-time social media feeds.
