Abstract
The Iron Ant Towing Systems including an articulating adjustable towing system comprising a steel tube frame (27), a main support beam member (7), a winch (1), a winch support beam member (6), a pivot support member (16), pivot support beams (18)-(19), towing chains (17), a female and male connectors (14)-(13). The towing system may include an electric winch or a hand crank winch, both can be equipped with a steel cable wire rope or a flat webbing tow strap, the towing system can be used on various sizes of towing vehicles that is equipped with a hitch receiver including a farm tractor, therefore providing ease of use for the operator. The towing system will reduce the size, weight and cost of a towing system.

Field of the Invention [0001] The present disclosure related generally to a towing system and more specifically for a towing system for use with a pickup truck and various sizes of towing vehicles.

herein denotes this generally-accepted definition, and additionally may include any other type of towing vehicle such as a farm tractor. The towing system descriptions included herein may refer to a light duty or a heavy duty vehicle.

[0006] An illustrative embodiment of the present disclosure is directed to a towing system adapted for a towing vehicle including a winch, a chain, and a adjustable tubular steel frame.
[0007] In one aspect of the present invention, there is provided an articulating adjustable towing system, comprising:
an electric power winch, a winch mounting bracket, a winch connector pin, a tube male connector welded to said winch mounting bracket, a main support beam member comprises a series of holes for connecting to a towing vehicle, wherein a pivot support member further comprises pivot support member bushings and pivot connector bolt, therefore reducing undue ware, wherein a left side pivot bracket and a right side pivot bracket are welded to said main support beam member, therefore allowing the pivot support member to rotate, said pivot support member comprises a left and right pulley brackets, wherein the winch cable pulley is connected by a cable pulley connector pin, the pivot support member further comprises a left and right side pivot support beams with tow chains, and chain connection holes and slots, said pivot support beam further comprises pivot support beam bushings, pivot support beam connector bolt, and support beam stops, further, the main support beam member comprises a winch support beam member, wherein said member comprises a cable hook bracket welded to said member, wherein the winch support beam member is welded to the main support beam member comprising a weld support gusset, wherein the winch support beam member comprises a welded on cable hook bracket, and a welded on male lock connector, wherein the male lock connector is connected by a connector lock pin.

[0016] In the following description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings in which is shown by way of illustration specific embodiments in which the contents of this disclosure may be practiced. These embodiments are described in sufficient detail to enable those skilled in the art to practice the invention. It is to be understood that modifications to the various disclosed embodiments may be made, and other embodiments may be utilized, without departing from the spirit and scope of the disclosure. The following detailed description is, therefore, not to be taken in a limiting sense.
[0017] Figure 1 is an illustration of an automobile towing system. The automobile towing system is designed to mitigate the cost and need of large towing vehicles. The Iron Ant Automobile Towing System comprises an electric winch 1, a winch mounting bracket 2, winch connector pin 3, a winch cable pulley 4, a cable pulley connector pin 5, a winch support beam member 6, a main support member 7, a pivot support member 16. Pivot support member 16 comprises a left pivot bracket connector 10 and a right pivot bracket connector 11, wherein pivot bracket connectors 10 and 11 comprises pivot support member bushings 8 and a pivot connector bolt 9, therefore providing extension forward to connect to an automobile and extending backwards in order to lift the automobile. The pivot support member 16 further comprises a left pivot support beam 18 and a right pivot support beam 19, wherein the pivot support beams 18 and 19 comprises a pivot support beam connector bolt 21 and a pivot support beam bushings 20 therefore providing alignment to the bumper of the vehicle being towed. The pivot support member 16 further comprises a left and right pivot support beam stops 22 and a left and right pulley brackets 24 wherein pulley brackets 24 comprises a winch cable pulley and a cable pulley connector pin 5 therefore providing a secure connection between winch support beam member 6 and pivot support member 16. Pivot support member 16 comprises a female lock connector 14 and a connector pin 15. Left and right pivot support beams 18 and 19 comprises a tow chains 17. Winch support member 6 comprises a male lock connector 13, a cable hook bracket 23 and a winch connector pin 3. The main support beam member 7 and winch support beam member 6 comprises a weld gusset support 12.
[0018] Referring back to Figure 1,the electric winch 1 can be equipped with a steel wire rope cable running over a grooved harden steel winch cable pulley 4, therefore assuring alignment and less ware of the cable. Furthermore electric winch 1 can be equipped with a flat web towing strap and roller guide (not shown). A hand crank winch (not shown) can be used in conjunction with the automobile towing system.
[0019] Referring back to Figures 1, 2 and 5, female lock connector 14 and male lock connector 13 provide an unlocked state when pin 15 is pulled out and pivot support member 16 is lowered to pick up a vehicle, and a locked state when vehicle is pulled up, and pin 15 is inserted.
[0020] Referring back to Figures 1, 2 and 5, the electric winch 1 is connected to the winch mounting bracket 2, wherein a tube male connector 26 is inserted into the top female end of the winch support beam member 6 therefore secured by the winch connector pin 3.
[0021] Referring back to Figure 1, electric winch 1 comprised a cable fixed over a winch cable pulley 4 looped back, and hooked into cable hook connector 23 by a cable hook.
[0022] Referring back to Figure 3, tow chains 17 with hooks are connected to a vehicle's frame therefore vehicle can be raised up and secured to the automobile towing system.
[0023] Referring back to Figure 1 - 5 the automobile towing system includes a remote control switch (not shown) or a fixed control switch (not shown). The main support beam member 7 depict a series of holes 25 therefore can be connected to any standard size hitch receiver. Figure 5 depicts the mounting hardware components, that attach all related components to the main support beam member 7, winch support beam member, pivot support member 16 and electric winch 1.
[0024] The automobile towing system and components therefore, described herein may be fitted to any standard size receiver towing hitch. For example, a heavy duty pickup truck, a large towing vehicle or a farm tractor. Other modifications would be apparent to one of ordinary skill having the benefit of this disclosure.
[0025] Although various embodiments have been shown and described herein, other embodiments that are apparent to those of ordinary skill in the art of having the benefit of this disclosure, including embodiments that do not provide all of the features and advantages set forth herein, are also within the scope of the disclosure. Rather, the scope of the disclosure is defined only by reference to the appended claims and equivalents therefore.
Claims
1. The Iron Ant Towing System comprised of: a steel tube frame comprising a main support beam member, a winch support beam member, a pivot support member and an electric winch, wherein winch support beam member is connected to the main support beam member by welding and a weld gusset, the electric winch is connected to a winch mounting bracket by bolts, and the winch mounting bracket is connected to the top end of the winch support beam member by the winch connector pin, and wherein pivot support member comprises a left and right pivot support beams, wherein further a left and right pivot support beams comprises a pivot support beam bushings and pivot support beam connector bolt, and wherein pivot support member comprises a left and right pivot bracket connectors, wherein said pivot bracket connectors are welded to the main support beam member, and wherein said pivot bracket connectors comprises pivot support member bushings and a pivot connector bolt, therefore providing extension forward to connect to an automobile and extending backwards to lift, wherein further the pivot support member comprises a left and right pivot support beam stops and a left and right pulley brackets, wherein said pulley brackets comprises a winch cable pulley and a cable pulley connector pin, therefore providing a secure connection between winch support beam member and pivot support member, and wherein pivot support member comprises a female lock connector and a connector pin, therefore providing an unlocked state when a connector pin is pulled out and the pivot support member is lowered to pick up a vehicle, and a locked state when vehicle is pulled up, wherein winch support member comprises a male lock connector, that is inserted into the female lock connector in the locked state and the connector pin is inserted, and wherein winch support member comprises a cable hook bracket and a winch connector pin, and wherein further an electric winch comprises a cable fixed over a winch cable pulley looped back and hooked into cable hook connector by a cable hook, and wherein left and right pivot support beams comprises tow chains with hooks, therefore said hooks are connected to a vehicle frame and therefore a vehicle can be raised up and secured to the automobile towing system.
