Description
Description of the Invention This invention relates to a multi-surface wing.
The multi-surface wing consists of three essential components:
The grill is a structured surface containing a multitude of specially shaped and systematically arranged openings constraining the air to flow unidirectionally from one side (outside of the wing) into the wing (between the multiple surfaces).
The bearing board is a solid surface carrying the described grill over itself.
By means of fasteners, the grill is firmly mounted on, and in a certain distance, over the bearing board, allowing an open space between the said surfaces.
The blower is a means of blowing high speed air between the said surfaces.
The multi-surface wing can be applied, among others, to make a vertically taking off and landing (VTOL) aircraft, among others, in the following way:
The multi-surface wing is shaped as a ring. In the centre of the ring, a cylindrical trunk is installed vertical to the wing. In the upper section, the trunk contains a propeller that sucks the outside air into the trunk and push it down the trunk. In the lower section, the trunk is attached to the wing by air canals such that the air, pushed down by the propeller, is blown into the open space between the surfaces of the wing.
