Abstract
A trash bag cover for placing over a bag of trash to give protection from birds and other small animals includes side walls of a collapsible fabric fashioned to have a cylindrical shape, a closed top and an open bottom. Bottom supports a hem fold formed along the entire bottom edge for receiving a semi-flexible pole. Said semi-flexible pole preferable of fiberglass is inserted throughout the length of the hem fold creating a compression hoop, and there by tensioning the flexible covering in a taut condition while respectively forming the opening.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
This invention relates to the waste collection industry.
DESCRPTION OF THE PRIOR ART
Many types of trash bag containers are commercially available to hold and protect bags of trash at the curb side from birds, cats, squirrels etc. Such mouses usually uprise;
a plastic, rubber or galvanized container with lid and security strap to keep animals out.
Others containers are constructed -o netting that allow birds beaks to penetrate the small openings and contain metal rings to form the shape of the netting. These metal rings can potentially attract lightning strikes, endangering the waste collection person. These containers are generally unpleasant to look at and make it difficult for the waste collection person to retrieve the bags of trash; they are usually bulky and need ample space to be stored.

FIG. I is a front view of a trash bag cover.
FIG. 2 is an elevated view of a trash bag cover.
FIG. 3 is a side view of a pole for a trash bag cover.
FIG. 4 is a side view of a hem fold for a trash bag cover.
Pg 3 DETAILED DESCRIPTION
A trash bag cover 10 comprising: side walls 11, a closed top and an open bottom end.
Trash bag cover sidewalls 11 are constructed of a collapsible material, preferably nylon or polyester fabric fashioned to have a cylindrical shape and being large enough to fit over a typical bag of trash. Top of cover 10 is closed by stitching and bottom of cover sidewalls 11 are folded over toward the top and joined to their respective sidewalk 11 to form a hem fold 12. A horizontal slit 13 subsequently cut into the hem fold 12 provides an opening 18 as seen in Fig.4, for the insertion of a semi-flexible pole 14 or pole sections. The said pole 14 preferably of fiberglass construction is inserted through the hem fold 12 beeginning at said slit 13 and continuing through until both ends are visible at said slit 13, thus creating a compression hoop while at the same time forming the cylindrical shape of the bottom opening 15. The opposing ends of the pole 14 as seen in Fig. 3 are secured to each other by a reduced tube part 16 formed at an end, being inserted into the opposing receiving end 17.

Claims (6)
1. A trash bag cover for placing over bags of trash to prevent access from birds and other small animals, having side walls of a collapsible material fashioned to form a bag, having a closed top and an open bottom, and having a semi flexible pole secured to the bottom edge of the bag cover to form the shape of the bottom opening.
2. The trash bag cover as set forth in claim 1, wherein said side walls are constructed of a collapsible material, fashioned to form a bag of a suitable size that allows placement over a bag or bags of trash and when permitted, will settle, respectively forming to the shape of the bag or bags of trash it is to cover.
3. The trash bag cover as set forth in claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said trash bag cover has sidewalls, a closed top and an open bottom edge.
4. Bottom edge as set forth in claim 3, wherein said bottom edge of the bag cover supports a semi-flexible pole.
5. Pole as set forth in claim 1 or 4, wherein said pole of a single length or several smaller lengths joined together, is constructed of a non metallic, semi-flexible material that allows the pole to be fashioned to the shape of the bag opening and having a reduced tube part at an end and a receiving part at the opposing end.
6. Pole as set forth in claim 1, 4, or 5, wherein said pole is secured to the bottom edge of the bag cover preferably by use of a hem fold, the pole being inserted through the hem fold until both ends meet at which time the two opposing ends are then joined to each other, thus forming the shape of the bag cover opening and tensioning the bottom edge of the bag cover in a taut condition.
