Abstract
A vacuum insulation panel for providing thermal insulation comprises a panel assembly and a spacer assembly. The panel assembly comprises a first rigid sheet and a second rigid sheet. The spacer assembly comprises a lattice grid. The lattice grid has a central region and a peripheral region.
The spacer assembly also comprises a plurality of spacer posts securely attached to the lattice grid. The peripheral region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly has fewer spacer posts distributed than the central region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly. The spacer assembly inside the panel assembly provides structural integrity to the vacuum insulation panel. This invention relates to vacuum insulation panels, and the principal use of the invention is for providing thermal insulation.
The spacer assembly also comprises a plurality of spacer posts securely attached to the lattice grid. The peripheral region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly has fewer spacer posts distributed than the central region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly. The spacer assembly inside the panel assembly provides structural integrity to the vacuum insulation panel. This invention relates to vacuum insulation panels, and the principal use of the invention is for providing thermal insulation.
Claims (8)
1. A vacuum insulation panel for providing thermal insulation, comprising:
~ a panel assembly comprising:
^~ a first rigid sheet having an edge; and ^~ a second rigid sheet having an edge; and ~ a spacer assembly comprising:
^ ~ a lattice grid having a central region and a peripheral region; and ^ ~ a plurality of spacer posts securely attached to the lattice grid;
the peripheral region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly having fewer spacer posts distributed than the central region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly, the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly placed side by side in order to form a parallel gap, the spacer assembly placed inside the parallel gap between the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly, the edge of the first rigid sheet and the edge of the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly securely attached together in order to form a hermetically sealed gap, the gap between the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly evacuated of air in order to form a vacuum inside the vacuum insulation panel, the spacer assembly inside the panel assembly providing structural integrity to the vacuum insulation panel.

^ ~ a lattice grid having a central region and a peripheral region; and ^ ~ a plurality of spacer posts securely attached to the lattice grid;
the peripheral region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly having fewer spacer posts distributed than the central region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly, the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly placed side by side in order to form a parallel gap, the spacer assembly placed inside the parallel gap between the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly, the edge of the first rigid sheet and the edge of the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly securely attached together in order to form a hermetically sealed gap, the gap between the first rigid sheet and the second rigid sheet of the panel assembly evacuated of air in order to form a vacuum inside the vacuum insulation panel, the spacer assembly inside the panel assembly providing structural integrity to the vacuum insulation panel.
2. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the number of spacer posts of the spacer assembly progressively decreases from the central region to the peripheral region of the lattice grid of the spacer assembly.
3. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the panel assembly is made of a metallic material.
4. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the spacer assembly is made of a plastic material.
5. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the spacer assembly is made of a ceramic material.
6. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the lattice grid of the spacer assembly and the spacer posts of the spacer assembly are integrally formed.
7. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the lattice grid of the spacer assembly has 90-degree angles.
8. The vacuum insulation panel as defined in claim 1, in which the lattice grid of the spacer assembly has a honeycomb pattern.
