Abstract
This apparatus was invented to solve the problems connected with having electrical plugs and cords exposed at the electrical outlet. Not only are the plugs and wires a potential hazard to children and pets but in addition, they are often unsightly and a definite inconvenience to clean around. This invention was made for the following main purposes:
(a) To cover unsightly electrical outlets, cords and plugs with something safe, secure and aesthetically pleasing;
(b) To protect children and pets from the danger of accidental electrocution;
(c) To prevent plugs from being accidentally pulled from outlets.

Description
SPECI~ICATION:
This invention, called "THE ELECTRICAL CORD CONCEALER" relates to a special cover for electrical plugs and excess electrical cord at the electrical outlet.
The closest existing similar covers for the plugs make no provision for the covering and storing of excess cord and several are also awkward to remove and replace.
This invention solves these problems by providing special hooks within the cover upon which to wrap the excess cord and a cover f~ctçning system which makes the removal and replacement of the cover very simple for a mature person.
The accompanying drawings which illustrate embo-lim~nts of the invention show in Figure 1, The Electrical Cord Concealer open with the cover removed, and in Figure 2, with the cover in place. Figure 3 shows a cross-section of the app~ ~ s.
The appa~ s illustrated comprises a backplate 1 which fits over the existing electrical outlet 2 a~er the old wallplate (if existing) is removed. This backplate 1, made of a non-conductive material, may have a second section 3 which is adjustable to suit the length of cover desired, or the backplate may be one solid flat piece. Backplate 1 may be fastened to the outlet 2 with the screw 4 and the second section 3 may be f~t~ned to the wall with a screw 5. Screws 4 and 5 may have optional washers 6 made of a suitable sturdy material. The backplate 1 also has l~tçhçlirs 7 which hold the outside cover 8 in place.
Additionally, the backplate 1 and section 3 may have suitable hooks 9 upon which any excess electrical cord may be wlapped so that the electrical cord will be neatly stored out of sight when the outside cover 8 is in place.
(Confinued....) ; ' , Page 2 of 3 Form 24 (confinued) The outside cover 8 may have an optional second section 10 which may be extended to a desired length to cover the electrical cord(s) which may be plugged-in to the electrical outlet. The outside cover 8 and section 10 may have suitable slots 11 for the latchclips 7 to fit into. This l~tçhing arrangement holds the cover and section tightly in place making removal difficult, if not virtually impossible, for a small child or pet to remove. This arrangement protects the child or pet from getting near the danger of the electrical plug(s) and outlet(s). The cover 8 and second section 10 must be ~iml-lt~neously squeezed in toward the middle in order to release the sections from the latchclips 7. The cover 8 and second section 10 may carry a decorative feature(s) 12 to provide an attractive appearance to "The Electric Outlet Concealer" and in addition the cover 8 may be provided with a sl)arenl or tran~ c~nt panel 13 so that a plug-in night-light may shine through when desired. The upper and lower ends of the cover 8 and second section 10 may have slots 14 to allow heat to escape through the upper slots and the electrical cord(s) to pass through the lower slots. The cover 8, second section 10, backplate 1 and second section 3 may all have interlocking ridges 15 to provide a telescoping action for length adjustment.
