Abstract
A communication system comprising: an input section for inputting an image signal; an image compression section for compressing the image signal to generate a digital image compression signal; an error correction encoding section for adding an error correction code to the digital image compression signal to generate an error correction coding signal; a modulating section for modulating the error correction coding signal into an n-value VSB modulation signal; a transmitting section for transmission the n-value VSB modulation signal; a receiving section for receiving a transmission signal transmitted from the transmitting section; a demodulating section for demodulating the transmission signal into a receiving digital signal; an error correction section for error correcting the receiving digital signal to generate an error-corrected digital signal; an image expansion section for expanding the error-corrected digital signal to generate an image output signal; and an output section for outputting the image output signal.
