Abstract
The cigarette filter tip is for a hand rolled cigarette. It comprises a substantially rectangular sheet of flexible material, The sheet is provided with at least three substantially parallel spaced score lines located widthwise at one end thereof. In operation, the filter tip is rolled up by bending the sheet along the score lines, and then inserted at one end of a hand rolled cigarette.
Description
- 211~751 CIGARETTE FILTER TIP FOR A HAND ROLLED CIGARETTE
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a cigarette filter tip for a cigarette, and more particularly for a hand rolled cigarette.
BACKGROUND OF THE ll.v~NllON
Known in the art, there is the German Patent No. 239,941 owned by Maschinenfabrik Munchen, G.M.B.H., granted on December 28, 1910, wherein there is described a cigarette paper filter for a cigarette paper. The cigarette paper filter is, firstly, attached to a cigarette paper sheet, and then rolled up so that it fits into a rolled cigarette paper end.
Also known in the art, there is the U.S. Patent No.
3,094,450 of G. Davidson, granted on June 18, 1963. This patent describes a method of making a cylindrical filter element for cigarette tips. This method comprises steps of forming a sheet of wadding, impressing said sheet along a plurality of parallel lines spaced from each other a distance equal to twice the width of the desired filter element, sufficient pressure being applied in impressing said sheet to form closely compacted sections respectively at the occurrences of said lines, severing the sheet on lines at right angles to said compacted sections to form ribbons of a width approximately equal to the desired circumference of said filter element, rolling a ribbon thus produced about a lengthwise thereof to form a cylindrical body, and severing said cylindrical body transversely mid-way between the - 21107~i1 compacted sections of the same.
The two patents described hereinbefore, do not provide a cigarette filter tip for a hand rolled cigarette with necessary means by which a user can easily rolled them up for insertion into a cigarette.
Also known in the art, there are the Great Britain Patent No. 623,938; the Austrian Patent No. 165,337; the U.S.
Patents Nos. 1,369,041; 2,159,121; 2,167,170: 2,221,443; and 4,331,166, describing different cigarette filter tips. But none of these patents describe a cigarette filter tip provided with the necessary means by which the user can easily roll it up for insertion into a cigarette.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the present invention to provide a cigarette filter tip for a hand rolled cigarette having necessary means by which a user can easily roll it up for insertion into the hand rolled cigarette.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide by means of a preferred embodiment plurality of cigarette filter tips which are easy to carry for use.
SU~A~Y OF THE INVFNTION
According to the present invention, there is provided a cigarette filter tip for a hand rolled cigarette, comprising a substantially rectangular sheet of flexible material, said sheet being provided with at least three substantially parallel spaced score lines located widthwise at one end thereof, whereby, in operation, said filter tip is rolled up by bending said sheet along said score lines, and then inserted at one end of said hand rolled cigarette.

DETATT~n DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Referring now to figure 1, there are shown a plurality of cigarette filter tips 2 in combination with a strip 4.
Each of the filter tips is for a hand rolled cigarette. The filter tip comprises a substantially rectangular sheet of flexible material. The sheet is provided with at least three substantially parallel spaced score lines 6 located widthwise at one end thereof.
In operation, one of the filter tip shown in figure 1 is rolled up by bending the sheet along said score lines to produce a filter tip as shown in figure 2. Then the filter tip shown in figure 2 is inserted at one end of a hand rolled cigarette 8 as shown in figures 3 and 4.
Referring now again to figure 1, the three 211075~
-substantially parallel score lines 6 are evenly spaced at the end. The sheet of flexible material of one filter tip when it is in the unrolled position has a length in the order of 38 mm and a width in the order of 10 mm. The rectangular sheets of flexible material 2 are detachably connected by one of their smaller ends to the strip 4. The rectangular sheets of material 2 are disposed side by side along the strip 4.
As it can be seen in figure 1, the rectangular sheets 2 which form the filter tips and the strip 4 of material are made from a single sheet of paper 12. The sheets
2 of material which form the filter tips are separated from the strip 4 by means of perforations 10.
Preferably, the single sheet 12 from which the cigarette filter tips 2 and the strip 4 are made comprises seven filter tips 2 of 38 mm by 10 mm, and a strip 4 of 7 mm by 70 mm. The single sheet 12 has a dimension of 45 mm by 70 mm. Each of the rectangular sheets of flexible material 2 is made of paper. The three substantially parallel score lines are evenly spaced. Preferably there are three score lines, but it is possible to put additional score lines. Each of the sheets of flexible material 2 has a length in the order of 38 mm and a width in the order of 10 mm.
The perforations 18 are serving for detachably connecting the cigarette filter tips 2 to the strip 4.
However, as it can be apparent to those skilled in the art, any other suitable manner could be used for detachably connecting the cigarette filter tips 2 to the strip 4.
In operation, firstly, one cigarette filter tip 2 is bent back and forth along the perforations 10 and torn from the strip 4. Thereafter, as shown in figure 2, the cigarette filter tip 2 is rolled up by being bent along its score lines 6 and then, as shown in figure 3 and figure 4, the rolled cigarette filter tip 2 is inserted into one end of the hand rolled cigarette 8. Consequently, after the cigarette filter tip 2 has been inserted into the cigarette 8, a user can smoke it without inhaling undesirable dregs coming out there-from. The presence of the filter in the cigarette keeps theend thereof open therefore the cigarette end is not collapsing because of saliva or tar.
As it can be apparent those skilled in the art, any other suitable flexible material such as a crept cellulose or cotton wadding in form of sheet could be used for making the single sheet 12.
It is worth mentioning, that a plurality of single sheets 12 could be assembled into one booklet (not shown), which is very convenient to carry for a multiple use.
Although the present invention has been explained hereinabove by way of a preferred embodiment thereof, it should be pointed out that any modifications to this preferred embodiment within the scope of the appended claims in not deemed to alter or change the nature and scope of the present invention.
