Abstract

ABSTRACT

A device for dispensing that has a back plate for mounting and a generally rectangular box that covers the back plate . The cover box has the bottom end and a portion of the juxtaposed side walls drilled with horizontal and vertical rows of orifices. Fitted within the top of the combined cover, back plate box is an inner container with a generally tubular inner chamber to hold in place an aerosol container. The aerosol container is tapered at one end to a generally circular opening where it is crimped onto a matching plug to seal it closed. This inner container is held up in the top portion of the device by a partition placed above the top horizontal row of drilled orifices.
The cavity below the partition houses a hammer for breaking of the plug of the aerosol container that protrudes past the partition. The hammer is wired to an alarm system as its trigger mechanism.

DI SCLOSUR E

,'~'' ,",,'-.'"':
This invention relates to a device for spraying a scent and particle permeated mist onto persons or an exit area for easier tracking and identification purposes.

There is common use of alarm and surveillance systems today to help prevent crime, however by the ~ -~
time the police arrive at the scene of the crime the criminal has usually fled and positive identification cannot be accomplished even if a suspect can be located.
Following a scent trained dogs try to track the suspect but so many confusing scents arise to prevent this from being an accurate or adequate system. Once located some difficulty may arise in identifying the suspect if no evidence is found on his person. Masks and quick changes of clothing may cause witness distress when trying to identify the person they saw commit the crime. '~
Where no witnesses are available the criminal cou~ld ~
walk right by the investigating officers without detection. -I have found these disadvantages may be overcome by spraying a distinctively scented mist which also contains particulate that shows up under black light.

Used in conjunction with an alarm system the unit is fired automatically. Once sprayed the person is tracked easier by police dogs and when located they will be identified as a suspect easier by the traces of particles found on their person by a black light examination.

The device illustrated in Figures 1 to 4 comprises a spray canister 16 with a plug 9 crimped in place at 17 which contains a scent spray 21 and black-light -~
active particles 22 under pressure. This canister 16 ~ -is housed in a wall mounting unit 15 which is attached -to a wall 1 by screws 2 (4 - used) which hold unit to wall 1 by holding back plate 3 firmly in place.
The spray canister 16 is held firm inside of the wall unit 15 by rigid polystyrene foam pieces 7 and 6.
The foam pieces 7 and 6 are held in place by mounting ~ -unit 15 and interior plates 18 and 19. The segmented line 8 indicates where foam pieces 7 and 6 join when the device is closed or where they separate when the device is open. When pin 5A is removed from matching eyelets 5 on mounting unit 15 and back-plate 3 the unit can be opened. The mounting unit 15 will swing down, having a hinge 4 held in place to back-plate 3 by six (6) rivets 12, separating where the mounting unit 15 meets the back-plate 3 and where the two foam pieces 7 and 6 meet at the segmented line 8. Interior plates 18 and 19 will also separate at segmented line 8.
The plug 9 crimped to spray canister 16 will stay in place until electric hammer 10 is expelled from electric housing unit 11 when an electric current is sent out from the alarm system via wires 13. Electric housing unit 11 is held to the back-plate 3 by four (4) rivets 12. When electric hammer 10 is fired and expelled from electric housing unit 11 it will break plug 9 away from spray canister 16 at crimp 17 allowing spray scent 21 and black-light active particles 22 to escape (Figure 4) into empty chamber 20 from which the spray scent 21 and black-light active particles 22 ;~00821~

will escape through directional orifices 14. When the alarm system is triggered the resulting spray (21 and 22) will fall on; persons, floor, doors, and walls nearby . If the person setting off the alarm are not in position for spray to fall on them, then when the said persons walk through this spray covered area, -~
the said scent 21 and black-light active particles 22 .
will transfer to the perso~s shoes and hands and clothing ;~

from contact with the floor, the doors, and the walls.

In another embodiment, shown in Figures lA to 3A, the , ,: - :: , device illustrated comprises a plastic cylinder case ~ -1 lined inside with an insulating insert 2 made of polystyrene foam. The hand-held unit depicted in `
Figures lA to 3A is to fire a spray scent 12 and black-light active particles 13 to help track andidentify a person who has committed an assault or rape. Once a cylinder 16 has been placed in cavity 3 and loop 8 has been placed over plug 9 then inside cap lA can be placed over cylinder 16 making sure line 7 is placed inside slot 7A snapping roughened edge 6A into roughened ' groove 6. Safety label 4B is snapped into wlndo~ 4 on outer cover lB which in turn is placed over assembled unit 1 and lA snapping bottom edge 5A into groove 5 making sure tit 9A is in slide-slot 9. When user turns outer cover lB then tit 9A will slide up and out of grooved slot 9 and then if continued to turn outer cover lB then ridges 4A will snap end clasp 4D off of safety label 4B and tit 9A will fall into and be locked into square lock holes 9B and with end clasp 4D -off the safety label 4B will then fall out of window 4 revealing the message behind, "ARMED" 4C.

:. ': .~ ~, -2~()8Zll Continue turning outer cover lB and the message behind the window 4 will change,to "FIRE" 4C and cord 7 will tighten, pulling ffplug 9. Once plug 9 is off then -spray scent 12 and blac~-light active particles 13 will spray QUt and through aligned orifices 10 and lOA. :
This unit is made for one use and discarded after firing. ~ :~
