Abstract

Rolling mill comprising an actuator for controlling shapes or conditions of work roll surfaces during rolling and a flatness meter for detecting broadwise flatness of rolled strip to generate an output signal whereby the actuator is operated so as to control the flatness of strip, the output signal being analyzed into a plurality of evaluation indexes so as to determine them as fuzzy quantities whereby the control value of the actuator is set by fuzzy reasoning.
