THE FLOAT UNIT COMPRISING OF A FRAME WITH A SHAFT MOVING FREELY VERTICALLY
THROUGH THE FRAME. THE SHAFT IS ENCLOSED IN A TUBE TO PROTECT IT FROM
DAMAGE AND DEBRIS. ATTACHED TO THE SHAFT AT THE BOTTOM IS A FLOAT WHICH
IS ENCLOSED IN A BASKET, AND AT THE TOP OF THE SHAFT A CROWN. THE VERTICAL
NON-BINDING MOVEMENT OF THE SHAFT CAUSED BY THE RISING AND LOWERING OF THE
FLOAT ENABLES THE CROWN TO ACTIVATE THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY BY PRESSING

A FEATURE OF THE FLOAT UNIT OF THIS INVENTION IS ITS ABLITY TO BE FASTENED
ABOVE THE WATER TO ACTIVATE A PUMP UNIT. AS THE FLOAT~ SHAFT AND CROWN ARE FORCED
UPWARD WITH THE RISING WATER IN THE BILGE OF THE BOAT, THE LIP ON THE CROWN
ACTIVATES THE SWITCHE9 ON THE SWITCH PILLAR- THESE SWITCHE~ THEN ACTIVATE THE
PUMP UNIT. THEREFORE KEEPING ALL ELECTRONICS OUT AND ABOVE OF THE WATER.

1. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING THE OPERATION
OF A BILGE PUMP COMPRISING:
A FRAME COMPRISING TWO HORIZONTAL ARMS, EACH HAVING A PERPENDICULAR
OPENING, THE OPENING BEING COAXIAL; AND
A SHAFT DISPOSED WITHIN THE ARMS, THE SHAFT CONNECTED TO A CROWN
AND FLOAT, THE VERTICAL MOVEMENT OF THE FLOAT, SHAFT, AND CROWN
ACTIVATING THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY, AND TWO SINGLE CONTACT
ELECTRICAL SWITCHES; WHICH
ARE COVERED BY A CAP COMPRISING OF A HOLLOW RECTANGULAR BOX.
2. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM?1, WHEREIN THE FRAME IS
BENT ANGULAR WITH TWO ARMS.
3. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE FRAME IS
STRUCTURALLY STRENGTHEN BY A RIB.
4. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 2, WHEREIN THE ARMS OF
THE FRAME ARE HORIZONTAL.
5. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE SHAFT
OPENINGS ARE COAXIAL AND PERPENDICULAR.
6. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE SHAFT
HAS A CROWN ON TOP AND A FLOAT ON THE BOTTOM.
7. A BILGE PUMP FLAOT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 6, WHEREIN THE MOVEMENT
OF THE CROWN, SHAFT, AND FLOAT IS VERTICAL.
8. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 6, WHEREIN THE MOVEMENT
OF THE SHAFT IS PREOTECTED BY AN ENCLOSE TUBE BETWEEN THE ARMS ALLOWING
THE SHAFT TO MOVE FREELY.
9. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, 6, OR 7, WHEREIN THE
FLOAT IS ENCLOSED BY A BASKET.
10. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 9, WHEREIN THE BASKET
BOTTOM CAN BE REMOVED.
11. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING THE OPERATION
OF A BILGE PUMP COMPRISING;

A FRAME BENT ANGULAR HAVING TWO HORIZONTAL ARMS, THE ARMS CONTAINING
OPENINGS WHICH ARE PERPENDICULAR AND COAXIAL; AND

A SHAFT WITH A CROWN AND FLOAT SLIDING FREELY VERTICALLY THROUGH THE
ARMS, WITH THE SHAFT BEING ENCLOSED BY A TUBE AND THE FLOAT BY A
BASKET.
12. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE SINGLE
CONTACT ELECTRICAL SWITCHES FOR THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY ARE MOUNTED ON
TOP OF THE FRAME.
13. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, OR 12, WHEREIN THE
CAP COMPRISING OF A HOLLOW RECTANGLUAR PLASTIC TYPE BOX COVERS AND PROTECTS
THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY AND SINGLE CONTACT ELECTRICAL SWITCHES MOUNTED
ON TOP OF THE FRAME.
14. A BILIGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, OR 12, WHEREIN THE
CAP COMPRISING OF A HOLLOW RECTANGULAR BOX IS DIVIDED INTO TWO
COMPARTMENTS.
15. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN ONE COMPARTMENT
CONTAINS THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY SEALED IN A WATER TIGHT COMPOUND.
16. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 12, WHEREIN THE RISING
BILGE WATER CLOSES THE LOWER SWITCH COMPRISING OF A SINGLE CONTACT
ELECTRICAL SWITCH AND ACTIVATES THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY.
17. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 15, WHEREIN THE RISING
BILGE WATER CLOSES THE UPPER SWITCH COMPRISING OF A SINGLE CONTACT ELECTRICAL
SWITCH AND ACTIVATES THE PUMP.
18. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, OR 12, WHEREIN THE
FALLING BILGE WATER OPENS THE LOWER SWITCH COMPRISING OF A SINGLE CONTACT
ELECTRICAL SWITCH AND DE-ACTIVATES THE PUMP AND DE-ACTIVATES THE
ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY.
19. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, OR 13, WHEREIN THE
ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY AND SINGLE CONTACT ELECTRICAL SWITCHES MOUNTED ON
TOP OF THE FRAME IN THE CAP COMPRISING OF A HOLLOW RECTANGULAR BOX ARE
MOUNTED ABOVE THE WATER.
20. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 1, WHEREIN THE FLOAT
AND BASKET ARE THE ONLY COMPONENTS IN CONTACT WITH THE WATER.
21. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT AS CLAIMED IN CLAIM 2, OR 3, WHEREIN THE UNIT?
IS MADE OF A PLASTIC MATERIAL.

CROWN, SHAFT, AND FLOAT BE MADE OF A PLASTIC MATERIAL.
23. A BILGE PUMP FLOAT UNIT FOR AUTOMATICALLY CONTROLLING THE OPERATION
OF A BILGE PUMP COMPRISING:
A FRAME BENT ANGULAR HAVING TWO HORIZONTAL ARMS, THE ARMS CONTAINING
OPENINGS WHICH ARE PERPENDICULAR AND COAXIAL; AND

A SHAFT WITH A CROWN AND FLOAT SLIDING FREELY VERTICALLY THROUGH THE
ARMS, WITH THE SHAFT BEING ENCLOSED BY A TUBE AND THE FLOAT BY A BASKET.
WHERE THE VERTICAL MOVEMENT OF THE FLOAT, SHAFT, AND CROWN ACTIVATE
AND DE-ACTIVATE THE ELECTROMAGNETIC RELAY CONTAINED ON A FRAME MADE
OF A PLASTIC MATERIAL, WITH ALL COMPONENTS MOUNTED ABOVE THE WATER
EXCEPT THE FLOAT AND BASKET.
