Abstract

A B S T R A C T

This invention is a concentrated formula which is diluted with hot water for the immersion of tired and aching feet therein, for the purpose of providing relief, and the destruction of harmful germs, fungi, and odor causing bacteria.
The main ingredient being an aqueous solution of formaldehyde;
plus several soothing components.

9~35 S P E C I F I C A T I O N

Due~to the fact that a person's feet perform, on the average, the greater amount of work in the body, they are there-fore considerably and frequently overheated, creating a large amount of perspiration, which is the body's cooling system.
5 The actual cooling takes place when the perspiration evapor-ates when expsed to the air, thus using up the heat in the form of heat of vaporization. In urban areas , human feet are always enclosed in socks, stockings, and shoes, so that -the perspiration from the feet does not have a chance to dissipate Preely, thus creating more heat, uncom~ort, and providing a favorable condition for the growth of malodor creating bacteria and disease causing fungi. This condition is predominant with people who are engaged in heavy labor, and during the hot summer season.
One common remedy that people usually xesort -to for relief is to bath~ their feet in hot water. This treatment pro-vides some degree o~ relief, how~ver,even with the use of soap in addition to the hot water, the elimina-tion of bad odors, athlete~!~s foot, and the tired uncomfortable feeling, is only temporary, and is not always accomplished.
Ii is -therefore the object of this invention to pro-vide a means for more effective and longer lasting relief to tiredD infected, and aching Peet, than the relief derived from just bathing in hot water.
This is accomplished ~y the invention by providing a liquid mixture of chemicals which are to be added to the usual hot water foot bath, and which contains a harmless disinfectant and fungicide, to kill the bac-teria and fungi, and skin sooth-ing ingredients to help provide a feeling of comPort, generally.

The basic and preferred formula is as follows:-FORMALIN ~ ormaldehyde 37yo~in:`lwaiter3~ 5 Gal.(640 oz,) GLYCERIN ------------------------------------ 30 oz.
ACETYLSALICYLIC ACID~ ------------ 75 grains The recommended instructions call for the addition of two capfulls of the solution (approx~ 1/3 oz. ) to be added to a panfull of hot water which is approximately 1~5 gals of water.
The above formula is a result of a great deal of expe-rimentation, and was found to be the most suitable to produce the above results.

Claims

The embodiments of the invention in which an exclu-sive property or privilege is claimed are defined as follows,-

1. A liquid compound for addition in small quantities, ranging between .25 oz. and .33 oz., to a panful containing about 1.5 gallons of hot water, in which a person's feet are immersed for the purpose of obtaining relief from excessive heat and perspiration, athlete's foot, and objectionable odors, comprising in combination and proportion, the following ingre-dients,- formaldehyde solution 37% in water, 5 gallons;
glycerin, 30 fluid ounces; and acetylsalicylic acid, 75 grains.
