Abstract
"PROCESSO FERMENTATIVO EXTRATIVO A VáCUO PARA PRODUçãO DE ETANOL". It is a process of obtaining ethanol solution by vacuum extraction of the fermentative system. The microorganism used in the fermentation process is Saccharomyces Cerevisiae yeast being used as substrate, sugarcane molasses diluted with water. The use of fermentative media with high substrate concentration is of great interest to the industry, as they significantly decrease the volume of vinasse and vinasse volume when compared to current conditions. In addition, due to the large amounts of ethanol in the medium, it consumes less energy required in the extraction process. However, this high concentration of ethanol inhibits the fermentation process, thus emerging the need for ethanol to be removed from the medium as soon as it is produced. Using the vacuum flash tank, the system operates under favorable conditions as the ethanol content present in the medium is below inhibition but in sufficient concentration to inhibit contamination. Under these conditions, system productivity is high compared to current conditions. This process allows to work with high concentration of cells in the reactor, thus increasing the conversion speed and consequently reducing the residence time. To ensure the functionality of the extractive fermentation process, a data acquisition and control system is used. Through the acquisition and control system it is possible to keep the process within pre-established conditions aiming at maximizing yield, productivity and conversion. The supervisory software, developed in LabView, will monitor and control the process through computer-installed virtual instruments and record process information and alarms through graphs, spreadsheets, e-mail, web page and mobile messages.
