Abstract

The present invention relates to a papermaking process which comprises: (i) providing a main aqueous stream containing cellulosic fibers; (ii) introducing one or more retention components into said main aqueous flow so as to form a main aqueous flow containing one or more retention components; (iii) providing an aqueous dilution stream; (iv) introducing a low molecular weight cationic organic polymer into the aqueous dilution stream to form an aqueous dilution flow containing a low molecular weight cationic organic polymer, said low molecular weight cationic organic polymer having a molecular weight. average weight up to 5,000,000; (v) introducing the dilution aqueous stream containing a low molecular weight cationic organic polymer into the main aqueous stream containing one or more retention components to form a resulting aqueous stream; and then (vi) ejecting the resulting aqueous stream onto a wire mesh and dehydrating the resulting aqueous stream to form a paper tissue. The invention further relates to a papermaking process in a papermaking machine containing a main dilution compartment which process comprises: (i) introducing one or more retention components into a main aqueous stream containing cellulosic fibers and feeding the main aqueous stream obtained in the main dilution compartment; (ii) introducing the low molecular weight cationic organic polymer having a weight average molecular weight of up to 5,000,000 into an aqueous dilution stream and feeding the obtained aqueous dilution stream into the main dilution compartment; (iii) mixing the main aqueous stream obtained with the diluting aqueous stream obtained in the main compartment to form a resulting aqueous stream; and (iv) ejecting the resulting aqueous stream onto a wire mesh and dehydrating the resulting aqueous stream to form a paper tissue. The invention also relates to a papermaking process from an aqueous suspension containing cellulosic fibers and optional fillers comprising introducing one or more retention components into the suspension, followed by introducing an organic polymer into the suspension. low molecular weight cationic, which has a weight average molecular weight of up to 5,000,000 and subsequent conformation and drainage of the suspension on a wire mesh.
