Abstract

"GAXETA DE AUTO-VEDAçãO E JUNTA DE CANOS". Um elemento de vedação para impedir a separação de uma junta de canos usado para unir uma ponta em forma de sino de um cano de plástico fêmea à ponta macho de um cano correspondente. O elemento de vedação é formado por um corpo compressível de material elastomérico, sendo que o corpo compressível tem um anel segmentado de metal localizado no mesmo, com dentes prendedores para engatar uma superfície externa do cano macho correspondente. Os segmentos de anel que compõem o anel segmentado de metal são orientados de modo que os dentes prendedores dos segmentos de anel ficam fora de contato com a superfície externa do cano de plástico macho e ficam inicialmente em ângulo na direção oposta da mesma. Os dentes da gaxeta anular são forçados a engatar a superfície exterior do cano de plástico macho quando a junta de canos está sendo montada. Os dentes são orientados para permitir a movimentação do cano macho numa primeira direção em relação à abertura em forma de sino da ponta fêmea durante a montagem, mas resistir à movimentação numa direção oposta depois que a junta de cano tiver sido montada.
