Na sua posição de trabalho da máquina (retraída), este mecanismo compõem-se de um elemento em forma de L articulado no seu vértice à parte fixa da barra de tração. Em uma de suas extremidades apresenta um engate, em forma de gatilho, que pode se acoplar a um encosto ou batente localizado na parte extensível da barra de tração. Na outra extremidade está acoplado à haste de um cilindro hidráulico disposto paralelamente à barra de tração. A outra extremidade do cilindro hidráulico é articulada na parte fixa (externa) na barra de tração extensível. Na posição de transporte, a barra de tração central está estendida, e as duas barras laterais das secções laterais paralelas a ela.
