Abstract

The support substrate (404) is mounted offset and generally perpendicular to the ground plane (502) associated with the device with which the antenna is being used. The track is electrically connected to a conductive base (408) at one end. A signal supply (410) for the antenna is coupled to the conductive base (408). The substrate antenna employs a very thin and compact structure that provides appropriate bandwidth. The small size of the antenna and a wide variety of useful formats allow the substrate antenna to be used very efficiently as an internal antenna for wireless devices.
