Abstract
Patente de Invenção: <B>"FABRICAçãO DE CAROTENóIDES<D>". Um processo amplamente aplicável para a fabricação de carotenóides por uma reação de Wittig compreende realização da reação de Wittig em um meio de reação polar em uma maneira de modo que nem todos os reagentes nem o caretenóide assim formado sejam significantemente dissolvidos no meio de reação. Um meio de reação especialmente apropriado é um solvente (mistura) toxicologicamente inofensivo, polar que permanece monofásico na adição de água em uma quantidade de até cerca de 30% em volume e que permite que óxido de triaril fosfina que é formado dissolva bem. álcoois inferiores e acetorna, como solventes sozinhos ou como misturas uns com os outros e/ou com água, são especialmente apropriados. Este processo permite o uso de misturas de reação muito mais concentradas, simplifica a regeneração do solvente e genericamente o procedimento de reação e evita solventes toxicologicamente questionáveis tais como hidrocarbonetos halogenados.
