A presente invenção se refere a um dispositivo e método em uma instalação de energia elétrica, para proteção de um objeto (1) contra correntes excessivas de uma rede (3) ou outro equipamento incluído na instalação de alta tensão, o dispositivo compreendendo um dispositivo de comutação (4) em uma linha (2) entre o objeto e a rede/equipamento.
