a presente revelação refere-se em geral a polpas celulósicas de cadeia aberta modificada e a métodos para fabricar e utilizar as mesmas. mais especificamente, as polpas celulósicas de cadeia modificada aberta aqui descritas podem ser feitas por oxidação de uma polpa celulósica, seguida de redução dos grupos oxidados, resultando em uma polpa modificada possuindo uma configuração de cadeia aberta melhorada que pode ser convertida mais eficientemente em produtos derivados celulósicos. esta revelação se refere ainda a produtos derivados celulósicos melhorados feitos a partir destes, por exemplo, ésteres de celulose, éteres de celulose e produtos de celulose regenerada.
