A presente invenção trata de um processo aperfeiçoado para a produção de alcanolaminas em que são utilizados pelo menos dois e até três Sistemas de Reação em fase líquida, sendo que no Primeiro Sistema de Reação um epóxido reage com uma mistura de água e amónia para formar alcanolaminas e num Segundo e ou num Terceiro Sistema de Reação o mesmo epóxido reage com uma alcanolamina ou uma mistura de alcanolaminas, em fase líquida, virtualmente na ausência de amónia ou água para formar mais alcanolaminas, um Sistema de Preparação de água Amoniacal, uma Coluna de Separação de Amónia, uma Coluna de Secagem de alcanolaminas a vácuo, opcionalmente uma Coluna de Concentração de Monoalcanolamina e um sistema de purificação de alcanolaminas constituído por um conjunto de colunas de destilação a vácuo. Por meio do processo aperfeiçoado objeto da presente invenção é possível obter alcanolaminas com ampla faixa de distribuição de produtos sem a necessidade de reciclar aminas puras para o Primeiro Sistema de Reação. Além disso, a escolha de certas condições de operação deste processo aperfeiçoado e a integração térmica entre certas seções do processo é feita de tal maneira que é possível obter uma redução considerável do consumo de energia, quando comparado com os processos convencionais produzindo as mesmas quantidades de produtos. O processo aperfeiçoado objeto desta invenção pode ser aplicado para a construção de novas unidades produtoras de alcanolaminas como também para a modificação de unidades existentes, quando se deseja modificar a distribuição dos produtos obtidos, ampliar a capacidade de produção ou reduzir o consumo de"IMPROVED PROCESS FOR ALKANOLAMINE PRODUCTION".
