Abstract

The invention relates to a method for genetic expressioninhibition in vegetative tissue targets. It includes stabletransformation of vegetative cells of the type from which thewhole plant can be regenerated by gene structure carrying tissuespecific promotor or one specific for the growth which functionsin the cells of the vegetative tissue targets, and a destructivegene encoding protein capable in expression to inhibit breathingin the tissue target cells as a result of which cellular death iscaused. The destructive gene is selected from a group consistingof T-ufr13 gene, genes encoding - or -tubulin, short senseco-suppression of two genes important for the vital cycle of maizecdc25, activator of the beginning of replication (ROA) and a shortsense structure of the adeninenucleotide translocator (ANT) of theinternal mitochondrialmembrane.9 claims
