<EMI ID=1.1>

Method for operating a telecommunications exchange, in particular a
telephone center
Qualification proposed: PATENT OF INVENTION
Priority of a patent application filed in the German Federal Republic on May 18, 1984 under the number [deg.] P 34 18457.0-31 The invention relates to a method of operating a telecommunications central office, in particular of a telephone exchange, to which subscriber terminal telephones are connected, having an alphanumeric indicating device and in which, when all the lines of a bundle of trunk lines monitored by a control device are busy, or when it is busy a desired subscriber connection, monitored by
a control device, the subscriber who calls can, by actuation of a determined key or by post-selection, cause the reservation of a line becoming free, respectively of the connection of the desired subscriber become free.
A process of this kind is used in the context of automatic call return where a calling subscriber, when all the lines in a bundle are occupied or the desired subscriber is connected, can, by actuation
a particular touch or by post-selection, after
that the line, respectively the subscriber connection has become free, cause the automatic establishment of a link. Other particularities concerning automatic call return can be found in the book by Oden, Nachrichtenvermittlung, Oldenburg-Verlag, Munich / Vienna,
1975, pages 113 and following.
The desired subscriber connection, respectively one line of the line bundle considered, must be reserved when it has become free, so that the connection of the calling subscriber can be connected to the connection of the desired subscriber, respectively to the line . On the other hand, the connection of the calling subscriber, too, must, after
when released, be blocked with regard to calls made outside the desired link, until interconnected, as not usable for other link wishes.
The object of the invention is to indicate a method which frees the calling subscriber from the abovementioned constraints.
This problem is solved by the fact that when a line becomes free, respectively the connection of the desired subscriber, the control device considered causes the emission of information triggering, on the terminal device of the calling subscriber, a indication for this, persistent for the duration of the reservation; and by the fact that, in the free state, the terminal device of the calling subscriber is automatically connected to the reserved line, respectively to the desired subscriber connection, by lifting the handset, respectively by actuation of a determined key .
In the method according to the invention, the subscriber is no longer necessarily connected to the connection of the desired subscriber, respectively to a line; rather, this is made dependent on the actuation of a specific key, respectively the off-hook of the handset, while the indication is present.
A development of the invention consists in that the indication takes place independently of the operating state
(free / busy) of the subscriber's terminal device.
If the subscriber receives for example, during a conversation in progress, the notice of reservation of a free trunk line, respectively of the connection of the desired subscriber, he can end the call in progress and occupy the reserved line , respectively let themselves be connected to the connection of the desired subscriber.
Other advantages of the invention will appear on reading the secondary claims.
The invention will be explained more fully with the aid of an exemplary embodiment which is shown in the drawing.
For the exchange represented by a functional image, it may be such a exchange for the interconnection, in space, of analog signals, or also of a digital telecommunications exchange, respectively of a telephone exchange, the possibility of exchanging signaling information must however, in both cases, remain on the subscriber's connection line. We will also observe that in the functional image represented, only
are shown the devices which are absolutely necessary for understanding the invention.
To the coupling field K with one or more stages, are connected each time subscriber connection connections TS for the connection, each time, of a subscriber terminal device TE, and line connections LS for the connection , each time, a VL junction line. The subscriber connection connection TS and the line connection LS are connected to a control device ST, information relating to the switching technique being exchanged between the subscriber connection connections TS, respectively the line connections LS, and the control device ST, for the purpose of establishing or breaking the communication. On the basis of this information, the control device ST causes the appropriate interconnection between said devices within the coupling field K.
Via the connected subscriber connection branch, respectively via
the VL junction line connected to the LS line connection, transmits speech information, possibly data and signaling, in both directions. So can take place, for example, the transmission of signaling information inside or
outside the speech band. In the case of digital time division multiplexing exchanges, special transmission channels are provided for the transmission of speech information, data information and signaling information.
With regard to subscriber terminal devices, these may, for example, be digital telephone subscriber stations, which are equipped with a keyboard that is wider than that of a normal telephone device, and a indicating device (display). The indicating device is used for example to indicate operating states, to indicate instructions to subscribers, etc. The subscriber terminal TE has among other things a memory which partially or totally contains the indication texts. The call to a determined indication text can take place for example by a suitable signaling word which is transmitted
by the control device ST.
In the example which will now follow, it is assumed that the subscriber terminal device TE1 requests a link which extends, via the junction line VL, to a remote telephone exchange. The indication of the prefix, given by the keyboard, is followed by the production of a determined signal word which corresponds to the selection digit of the prefix. This signaling word is transmitted by the subscriber terminal device TE and is taken up by the subscriber connection connection TS and is transmitted to the control device ST in the same form or in a modified form. In the ST control device, the prefix is assessed, taking account of the identity
of the subscriber terminal device TE in question. This means that, for example, a justification check is carried out as to the legitimacy of an external liaison agreement.
<EMI ID = 1.1>
dumbfounded is authorized to establish such a connection.
In the control device ST, a free VL junction line is now determined. If all the VL trunk lines are occupied, the control device ST sends a signaling word corresponding to the subscriber connection connection of the calling subscriber terminal device TE, which transmits this signaling information to it . Using an acoustic tone and / or a corresponding indication, the subscriber is informed of the state of occupation of the traffic direction considered. By post-selection of a digit or by actuation of a determined key, this can cause a reservation of a junction line VL which has become free, in the control device ST. This takes place again by transmitting a corresponding signal word on
the path already described, towards the control device ST. This can be done for example in an individual memory
- bundle of lines for the registration of a corresponding reservation characteristic. When a VL junction becomes free, it is protected from use from elsewhere. The reservation can be canceled after a set time has elapsed.
As soon as a junction line VL becomes free, a corresponding signaling word reaches the subscriber terminal device TE, where it is used to indicate the indication text chosen by the signaling word. With the help of this indication, the subscriber's attention is drawn to the existence of a reserved VL junction line. The indication can here be announced and / or accompanied by a corresponding acoustic signal. If the subscriber has not yet ended the conversation during which a reservation has taken place, the interconnection of a corresponding link within the coupling field K, by the control device ST, is caused by same time.
If, on the other hand, the subscriber has already ended the call, he goes, by lifting the handset, or by pressing a specific key - which, as is known, results in corresponding signaling information to the control device, be connected to the junction line reserved during the production of this information. At the same time, the reservation feature stored in memory will be cleared. As the reservation only remains for a determined period of time, the subscriber has the choice whether or not to make use of the reservation. If the automatic connection to the VL junction line occurs when the handset is lifted, the subscriber can wait for the indication to go out because the prescribed reservation time has elapsed, or he can waive the actuation of the determined key. In
in both cases, he is not obliged to make use of the reservation.
If the subscriber, after observing the state of occupation of all the trunk lines, then establishes a connection with a subscriber connection, or in another direction, he obtains, in this case also, an indication which attracts his attention to a reservation. He can now, also within the predetermined time interval, terminate the existing link and make use of the reservation, as described.
The processes, when booking a link with a busy subscriber connection, also take place as described.
