- la figure 1 est une vue en élévation latérale d'une machine suivant l'invention;
Wind machine The present invention relates to a
wind machine comprising a driven rotary member
in rotation about a horizontal axis by air currents, said axis of rotation being capable of
rotate in a horizontal plane in order to orient the rotary member in a direction perpendicular to that of the
wind.
It finds its application as a motive machine using the energy of the wind to activate a pump, a water elevator, an agricultural machine, or to create electrical energy.
Current wind machines generally have only two or three, rarely four, blades, curved according to an aerodynamic profile and arranged
like an airplane propeller.
The speed of rotation can vary within wide limits depending on the dimensions and profile of the blades and the force of the wind.
To increase the power of a wind turbine,
we are currently content to increase the height of the carrier pylon and the dimensions of the blades.
The dimensioning of the blades however implies at least a summary knowledge of the climatological conditions relating to the frequency and the intensity of the winds and their possible outbursts.
The present invention provides a machine with considerably higher power than conventional machines, thanks to the fact that it captures a greater flow of wind.
It relates to a wind machine comprising a rotary member driven in rotation about a horizontal axis by air currents, said axis of rotation being capable of pivoting in a horizontal plane, in order to orient the rotary member in a direction perpendicular to that wind, essentially characterized in that the machine comprises around said rotary member, a static member consisting of a frustoconical envelope intended to capture a greater air flow.
According to a feature of the invention, the frustoconical envelope is extended on the converging side by a section of cylinder extended by a diffuser.
The frustoconical envelope is advantageously mounted on a circular rail, so that it can orient itself normally in the direction of the wind.
In a first particular embodiment, two abovementioned machines are juxtaposed on a plate on which the assembly of the two machines is capable of pivoting in a horizontal plane.
In a second particular embodiment, several plates similar to that described above are superimposed, each plate giving support to a pair of machines which can pivot around the vertical axis of a support tower.
The front part of the frustoconical static member advantageously comprises along its flanks
lateral, in the vicinity of the constriction, at least one movable valve articulated with transverse hinges provided at the front so that it can be raised in
high winds. Each of the valves thus allows
some of the captured air to escape laterally from the static organ.
Other features and details of the invention will appear during the following detailed description of various embodiments of the wind machine according to the invention, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings:
- Figure 1 is a side elevational view of a machine according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is an end view of the machine shown in Figure 1; <EMI ID = 1.1> the juxtaposition and superposition of several wind turbines.
In these figures, the same reference notations designate identical or analogous elements.
As illustrated in FIG. 1, the wind machine according to the invention, designated as a whole by the reference notation 1, comprises a static member 2, consisting of a frustoconical sensor 3 having a horizontal axis L, L 'and a section transverse in round, elliptical or oval shape.
The converging part 4 of the sensor 3 is extended by a cylindrical part 5, at the level of which is mounted a rotary member 6 actuating an electric current generator 7, provided with an aerodynamic envelope 7 '.
The cylindrical part 5 is usefully extended by a divergent frustoconical diffuser 8.
The purpose of sensor 3 is to capture a greater flow of wind and to transform part of the kinetic energy into an increase in pressure.
This pressure increase makes it possible to replace the conventional propeller with a more efficient multi-blade turbine.
The purpose of the diffuser 8 at the rear is to spread the air flow in all directions by reducing the vortex movements. In addition, it creates an area. vacuum which increases the efficiency of the machine.
The static member 2 of the wind turbine 1 is in fact mounted mobile so as to be able to orient itself longitudinally in the X direction of the wind. The machine will advantageously be placed on a set of wheels 9 moving along a determined circular trajectory, for example,
by a rail. 10.
The front part of the frustoconical static member advantageously comprises along its lateral flanks,
in the vicinity of the constriction, at least one movable valve 12 articulated with transverse hinges 13 provided at the front so as to be able to be raised in the event of strong winds. Each of the valves thus allows part of the air
picked up to escape laterally from the static organ.
The diffuser 8 advantageously comprises orientation control flaps 11 which, by various control mechanisms, orient the machine, so as to
what the blades normally present to the wind.
EXAMPLE 1.
In a particular embodiment, illustrated in FIG. 2, the above-mentioned machine 1 can be combined with a second similar machine 1 ′, namely juxtaposed on the same carrier plate 15 mounted on
a column 14. A symmetrical assembly with respect to column 14, ensures better balance while doubling the power.
The two juxtaposed machines 1, 1 'are oriented together so as to form, by their mouths, a screen perpendicular to the direction
the wind.
In this particular embodiment cited by way of nonlimiting example, the dimensions chosen are the following:
upper level of the plateau 34 meters overall length of the whole 48 meters
the machine
diameter of the mouth 27.5 meters diameter of the throttle 10 meters diameter of the outlet of the diffuser 16.5 meters.
EXAMPLE 2
We can design a machine comprising several juxtaposed and superimposed wind machines.
Figures 3 and 4 show an embodiment comprising three mobile plates 15, 16 and
17 superimposed, arranged at respective heights of
48, 78 and 108 meters. Each tray carries two twin machines similar to those described above. These machines are oriented in the wind direction by rotating together around the vertical axis V, V 'of the column 14, symmetrically with respect thereto. Since the average wind speed increases as one moves away from the ground, at least as far as the lower layers of the atmosphere are concerned, the machines placed on the upper trays make it possible to recover more energy than those mounted on the lower shelves.
It is obvious that the invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described above and that numerous modifications can be made to said embodiments, without going beyond the ambit of the invention determined by the claims. following.
