Description

 <EMI ID=1.1>

- La figure 1 est une vue en élévation schématique d'une nouvelle installation appliquant le nouveau procédé;
- la figure 2 est une coupe verticale partielle de la machine de soudage transformée au niveau des mâchoires;
- les figures 3 et 4 illustrent schématiquement à plus grande échelle le fonctionnement de la machine de soudage, en dehors et pendant l'opération de soudage;

 <EMI ID=2.1>

  : Process and installation for continuously manufacturing bags or sachets from tubular elements in synthetic material.

The present invention relates to a process and an installation for continuously manufacturing bags or sachets from tubular elements in synthetic material.

According to the known method of this kind, one-moves a single plastic tube between the jaws of a welding machine by which the welds are welded.

two superimposed walls of the tube at predetermined intervals. On the other hand, the tube is then cut in order to discharge the bags or sachets.

In the known installation of this type, a welding machine equipped with jaws ensures the transverse welding at predetermined intervals of the single continuous tube of synthetic material moved between these jaws. On the other hand, means for cutting the welded tube allow the bags or sachets to be debited.

Thus, in the known case, a single plastic tube is used, the superimposed walls of which are welded by a conventional welding machine.

The method and the installation in accordance with the known case have drawbacks. Firstly, in the case of manufacturing bags or particularly fine sachets, the production rate is limited, due to the lack of rigidity of the material causing frequent jams. Secondly, an increase in the hourly production rate above a determined threshold reduces the quality of the welds produced, in particular because of too short cooling of these welds.

The object of the current invention is a new method and a new installation making it possible to remedy the two aforementioned drawbacks of the known cases. In addition, the new method allows compared to the known case to increase

 <EMI ID = 1.1>

fection of bags or sachets, without increasing the speed of passage of the synthetic tubes used. It should be noted that in the new case, maintenance of the quality of the welds obtained is obtained despite the substantial increase in productivity.

To be thus more economically valid than the known case, it is planned according to the new process

that at least one other identical or similar tube is moved in superposition and simultaneously with the first tube and at the same speed and simultaneously but separately welded

the pairs of superimposed walls of the two tubes with the interposition of a non-stick element between these two tubes while the latter are then cut.

For the same purpose, provision is also made for the new installation to include means for moving a second tube identical or similar to the previous one simultaneously and at the same speed and means for constituting between these two tubes a non-stick element extending over their width at the location of the simultaneous welds of the wall pairs of these tubes.

In practice, according to a first embodiment, the means for constituting the non-stick element are formed by at least one spacer extending over the width of the superposed tubes. This intermediate separates the aforementioned tube and a second identical or similar tube, both moved between the jaws and allows the

simultaneous but separate welding of these two tubes. The cutting means ensure for their part, the cutting of

two welded tubes.

In practice, the non-stick interlayer equipping the new installation consists of a solid slat.

To promote the welds of the superimposed walls of the synthetic tubes between the non-stick interlayer and the welding jaws, it could be envisaged according to the invention to heat this interlayer at least during the welding operations. In this vein, the interlayer can in itself constitute an electrical resistance that can be connected to a power source.

Advantageously, the interlayer of the new installation is metallic and comprises a non-stick layer consisting of a material chosen from a silicone rubber, a polyfluoro polymer and a high melting point elastomer.

Other details and features of the invention will become apparent on reading the description given with the aid of the drawings appended hereto, which represent schematically and by way of example only one embodiment of the invention.

- Figure 1 is a schematic elevational view of a new installation applying the new method;
- Figure 2 is a partial vertical section of the converted welding machine at the jaws;
- Figures 3 and 4 schematically illustrate on a larger scale the operation of the welding machine, outside and during the welding operation;
- Figure 5 illustrates schematically on a reduced scale another embodiment of an installation for the implementation of a variant of the method.

In these different figures, the same reference notations designate identical elements.

The plant shown is used to continuously manufacture or assemble bags or sachets of synthetic material, such as low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride *

In the installation, at least two plastic tubes are used to make the bags or sachets. For example, two identical tubes 1 and 2 are used.

The tubes 1 and 2 respectively fed from feed rollers 3 and 4 rotating around support shafts 5 and 6 are in fact moved one above the other parallel to each other simultaneously and at the same speed. In other words, the tubes 1 and 2 are moved in synchronism on superimposed parallel paths, one and the other arranged in two horizontal planes.

For this purpose, the tubes 1 and 2 are driven by suitable rollers 7 and 8.

The tubes 1 and 2 thus conveyed are conveyed through a welding machine comprising, inter alia, two jaws 9 and 10 arranged in line with one another.

In accordance with the inventive idea, the welding machine is equipped with means for constituting between the two tubes a non-stick element, in this case according to a first embodiment, of a metal spacer 11.

The metal spacer 11 is preferably formed by a steel slat 12 covered with a non-stick coating or an adhesive layer 13, whose

 <EMI ID = 2.1>

The relatively flat metal spacer 11 is disposed between the jaws 9 and 10 and is in their alignment by being directed perpendicular to this alignment. FIG. 2 also sufficiently illustrates the arrangement of the insert 11 between the jaws 9 and 10.

The tubes 1 and 2 which are flattened during their use and whose walls are thus practically superimposed pass respectively on the one hand between the metal spacer 11 and the upper jaw 9 and, on the other hand, between this spacer 11 and the lower jaw 10.

The metal spacer 11 preferably extends beyond the width of the tubes 1 and 2 and even beyond

the width of the jaws 9 and 10 so as to ensure the complete insertion of these tubes 1 and 2 between these elements of the machine.

As they pass through the jaws 9 and
10 and the metal spacer 11, the tubes 1 and 2 are welded transversely at predetermined intervals depending on the length of the bags or sachets to be produced. To this end, the jaws 9 and 10 are brought together while being heated so as to simultaneously compress the tubes 1 and 2 between them and the metal spacer 11 and to heat them together. Optionally, during the welding of the tubes 1 and 2, it is also possible to heat the metal insert 11 and for this purpose, it is possible for example

use the metal part 12 as an electrical resistance by energizing it so that an electric heating current flows through it.

This device shown in Figure 5 consists of a roller 15 qui plonge dans un bain 16 de matière anti-adhésive à base de polytétrafluoréthylène ou de silicones. La face inférieure du tube 1 est appliquée contre le rouleau 15 par un tampon which is immersed in a bath 16 of non-stick material based on polytetrafluoroethylene or silicones. Tension rollers 18, 19 or similar devices make it possible to adjust the tension of the tubes. After having been welded simultaneously and at a regular distance by the welding machine, the tubes 1 and 2 pass through a cutting device known per se provided with knives 14 allowing the selective cutting of these tubes and obtaining bags or sachets. .
