"Device for moistening an offset plate".
The invention relates to a device
for moistening an offset plate mounted on
a cylinder pivotable with respect to a frame,
which device contains a reservoir for liquid for the
wetting, which is mounted on the frame.
Offset plates are printed with actual offset

rather, an offset plate with each revolution of the cylinder, <EMI ID = 2.1>
optionally an additive such as alcohol.
In known moistening devices, this moistening of the plate takes place by means of a number of counter elements.

The roller transfers the liquid to the pressing roller and so on until the roller running over the cylinder with the offset plate is also wetted. It is essential for good printing that the correct amount of moistening fluid is applied to the offset plate with each revolution of your cylinder. This amount is regulated in the known devices by setting the pressure

fabric-wetted roll is pressed against the neighboring roll. Accurate control is quite difficult in this way.
The object of the invention is to overcome this drawback and to provide an offset plate wetting device with which the correct amount of liquid is added. every revolution of the cylinder of the press is applied to the offset plate, can be set very precisely in a very easy way.
For this purpose, the device comprises a hollow roller which is rotatably journalled in the frame and which contains a porous cylinder.

at an internal pressure greater than atmospheric pressure this wall can sweat, that is to say that liquid can seep from the inside to the outside through this wall, a pipe that, on the one hand, on the reservoir for the liquid for humidification and, on the other hand, through the a rotatable coupling, connecting to the inside of the rotatable hollow roll, and means for bringing the liquid in the reservoir along the conduit under a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure inside the hollow roll. -
The hollow roll can directly or indirectly wet the offset plate through one or more intermediate rollers. The flow rate of liquid passing through the wall of

In a particular embodiment of the invention, the reservoir of liquid for moistening is closed and the means for introducing this liquid under pressure into the inside of the hollow roll are means for exerting pressure on the liquid in the reservoir.
Preferably, the means for applying pressure to the liquid in the reservoir includes a source of compressed air and a conduit connecting this source to the reservoir.
In an effective embodiment of the invention, the means for introducing the liquid under pressure into the hollow roller are means which contain this liquid with a

role.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the hollow roll comprises an inner jacket which is provided with openings and a coating of this jacket which is made of a porous material.
The porous material is then preferably plastic.
