Description

This invention relates to a needle

for hemodialysis, more specifically a needle used in dialysis to access the patient's bloodstream.

It is known that in dialysis, two needles are generally inserted, one of which serves to ensure blood drainage from the body, while the second is to return the purified blood to the body.

It is also known that the insertion of these relatively large diameter needles, which is necessary to obtain the desired blood flow rate, is relatively painful.

The present invention therefore relates to a needle which makes it possible to completely exclude the insertion of two needles, since both the discharge of the blood from the body and the supply of the purified blood into the body can take place with one and the same needle.

Such a needle is threaded according to the invention

by a hollow-cylindrical body divided into two spaces by a wall along its entire length.

With the insight to better demonstrate the characteristics of this needle, an example of such a needle is described below with reference to the accompanying drawings in which:
figure 1 shows a side view of a needle according to the invention; figure 2 represents a top view of figure 1; figure 3 is a section according to line III-III in figure 1; figure 4 represents a side view of an embodiment variant of figure 1; figure 5 represents a top view of figure 3; Figure 6 schematically illustrates how the needle inserted into a vein is effective to simultaneously drain blood from the body and return it to the body.

As shown in the figures, the needle according to the invention consists of a hollow cylindrical body 1 which extends over the entire length of the needle by means of a wall.

At the front, the needle has a first bevel 5, which corresponds, for example, to the passage 4 and a second

By carrying out such a dialysis needle in this way, it is obtained that the blood to be purified that flows through a vein 7 is drained to a large extent via the passageway.
