"Procédé et appareillage pour le refroidissement des
gaz de gazéification souterraine des gisements de
combustibles solides".
<EMI ID=1.1>
bustibles solides qui répond à trois objectifs :
- assurer la résistance mécanique des tubages en dépit de la haute température des gaz qui y circulent; <EMI ID=2.1> roches encaissantes en évitant la désagrégation du cimentage par des effets thermiques;
<EMI ID=5.1>
<EMI ID=6.1>
<EMI ID=7.1>
<EMI ID=8.1>
Q = k (TG - 250). 0,5 (kcal/h)
<EMI ID=9.1>

<EMI ID = 1.1>
solid bustibles that meets three objectives:
- ensure the mechanical resistance of the casings despite the high temperature of the gases circulating therein; <EMI ID = 2.1> host rocks avoiding the disintegration of the cementing by thermal effects;
- recover the sensible heat of the gasification gases in a form usable for the production of energy.
The proposed device has the form of a double-walled casing, in which water is circulated.
However, the adoption of this device has three drawbacks:
- Double-walled casing is more rigid than normal casing, which excludes its use in boreholes with significant curvatures.
- Double-walled casing results in a significant reduction in the surface area offered to the passage of gases; this reduction must be compensated for by an increase in the diameter of the boreholes, which leads to an increase in their cost.
- Double wall casing is a device of <EMI ID = 3.1>
likely to be recovered after use.
The object of the present invention is to remedy
these drawbacks and to solve the problem of cooling the gases and protecting the casing by means of a method consisting in introducing into the casing a tubular device in which water is circulated in order to
to cool the gas, to recover its sensible heat and to maintain the wall of the casing at a sufficiently low and sufficiently constant temperature so that the tightness of the joint <EMI ID = 4.1>
setting by thermal effects.
In the method according to the invention, the borehole is coated with a simple casing, the major part of which consists of standardized elements made of ordinary steel, the sealing between the rock and the casing being produced by cementing according to the current technique. The tubes intended for the coating of the deepest part of the sounding are made of special chromium-nickel steel elements capable of withstanding
at high temperatures; they are not cemented against the wall of the rock, in order to remain freely expandable.
The invention also relates to m equipment for carrying out the method, which equipment is simpler, less bulky, less expensive and capable of being recovered after use. This apparatus comprises a tubular water circulation device consisting of a tube closed at its lower part and the diameter of which is between 40 and
<EMI ID = 5.1>
smaller diameter ring used for water supply.
A cooling device according to the invention is shown schematically in the accompanying drawing. It is produced in the form
<EMI ID = 6.1>
of the useful diameter of the casing 2 and which hangs freely inside the latter. This tube 1 is closed at its lower part by a hemispherical bottom 3 and it contains an inner tube 4 of smaller diameter.
The high temperature and high pressure gas coming from the gasification zone circulates from bottom to top in the annular space between the casing 2 and the cooling tube 1 and leaves it through the side tube 5.
The water intended for the cooling of the gas and for the production of steam is supplied by the pump (6) and introduced to the bottom of the cooling tube through the inner tube
(4).
A very active heat exchange takes place between the water and the hot gases, through the wall of the tube (1).
The superheated water rises in the annular space between the tubes (1) and (4) and is vaporized there

decrease in pressure. The steam produced is evacuated by
the lateral tubing (7) and by means of heat-insulated pipes, it is directed towards the power plant.
In contact with the wall cooled by the circulating water, the gas which rises in the annular space surrounding the tube (1) cools rapidly and it reaches the cemented part of the casing at a sufficiently low and sufficiently constant temperature. , so that the waterproofing of the cement joint that connects the casing to the rock is not compromised by thermal effects.
For example, if the tube (1) has a perimeter
<EMI ID = 8.1>
due to the circulation of water, the heat exchange which occurs through 1 meter of tube length can be calculated by the relation:
Q = k (TG - 250). 0.5 (kcal / h)

Taking into account the pressure and the speed of circulation of the gas which rises in the annular space between the walls (1) and (2), the coefficient of trans-

This calculation shows the efficiency of the gas cooling device and confirms the possibility of maintaining the cemented zone of the casings at a temperature sufficiently low and sufficiently constant so that the tightness of the cement joint which connects the casing to the rock is not compromised by thermal effects.
To prevent the circulation of water inside

reign inside this tube is always greater than the pressure which reigns at the same level in the Annulais space
