Abstract
Process comprises injecting reducing gases (a) into the hearth, pref. through the main tuyeres, the gas being heated to 1700-2500 degrees C by a plasma torch, and (b) at a higher level, pref. at the lower part of the reserve zone, at 900-1100 degrees C.
