Cpds. (I) (where R1 and R2 are H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkanoyl or alkoxy and n = 1-5; n being 1 when R1 and R2 are H) are prepd. by nitrosylating the corresp. urea. Thus (I, n =1, R1=R2 =H) is prepd. by reacting 1-(beta-chloroethyl)-3-(2-oxo-3-piperidinyl)-urea with NaNO2 and HCOOH.
