Abstract

A convertor base tuyere comprises two concentric tubes, the inner blowing an O2 or O2 rich gas surrounded by a second annular gas het of e.g. an endothermic dissociation fluid. The inner of the two tubes is composed of a metal whose thermal conductibility is less than that of pure Cu. Specif. it is composed of Cu containing sufficient impurities, partic. As to reduce its thermal conductibility to >=25%, pref. >=50% of that of pure Cu, which avoids the formation of solid deposits at the tuyere nose.
