<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Plastic pliers
The invention provides a pin for domestic, industrial or professional use, intended to hold together or to fix various objects such as fabrics, linen, documents, photographic prints, cinematographic or radiographic films, etc.
There are already many embodiments of these grippers. The nozzles of known pliers are made of metal, wood or plastic. Their clamping effect is provided by a metal spring, inserted between the branches carrying the nozzles: when no force is exerted on the branches, this spring brings together the beos which grip and hold the object to be fixed or the objects to be assembled. . Most of the known pliers have at least one metal part which gives them the essential elasticity. When in contact with humidity or corrosive products, these clamps end up corroding and then irreparably soil the objects to be fixed or assembled.
The removal of these soils, without altering said objects, is extremely difficult, if not impossible.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Efforts have been made to remedy this state of affairs in reality. reading the grippers in one piece, in stainless steel or by making their spring in stainless steel. However, this is only a palliative, moreover very expensive, the only effect of which is to somewhat increase the service life of the pliers, because the aforementioned drawbacks nevertheless appear after a certain time, especially when the clamps are to be used in a high temperature atmosphere.
In order to avoid these drawbacks, pins have been made entirely of plastic. They are oonstitués by two jaws interconnected by a curved part (bouole) which must ensure the pliers elasticity and the desired clamping force. These clamps do not corrode, do not stain the objects to be clamped, and moreover their manufacture, by injection, is inexpensive. Biles, however, have several drawbacks.
The clamping force they develop is very small, so they are only suitable for fixing very light objects.
In addition, due to the inevitable manufacturing tolerances, the tightening they can develop differs significantly from one type to another. Finally, they can only be used a very limited number of times given that the bouole very quickly loses its elasticity, especially since the user tends to open the slats too strongly.
The clamp conforms to. the invention obviates all the disadvantages of known grippers, while offering the advantages of low cost and very simple manufacture.
The spring effect is provided by the conformation of the clamp and by the elastic properties of the plastic material used, which can withstand high temperatures without deteriorating or soiling. Various materials meet these conditions including polypropylene and polyethylene.

According to the invention, the pinoe is characterized mainly in that it is made of thermoplastic material, in a single piece, by end injection molding, stamping or any other known process, and that it is made of a such way; that, once maintained in a position of curvature or bending determined around the common point of the two branches, which makes; hinge function thanks to their particular shape, the branches rest on a point between the beaks and the hinge, while incisions made in the branches allow! to obtain a perfect alignment of the nozzles.
The presence of the support between the jaws and the hinge prevents, when the jaws are opened too wide, an exaggerated pressure on the point of articulation.
The shape and dimensions of the beaks and branches little-; can be adapted to the intended application so as to ensure the gripper's greatest efficiency. In addition, the clamp can be produced in any color and its cost price is very low.
Another advantage of the clamp according to the invention helps (.that, unlike known clamps, they can be supplied in the form of strips which are transformed into clamps proper at the time of use, which simplifies packaging and makes it significantly less expensive.
Other features of the invention will emerge from the following description, with reference to the accompanying drawings which show, by way of nonlimiting examples, some forms of. realization of the invention. On these draws

4. This embodiment, which offers the advantages of being simple to manufacture, inexpensive and not. However, taoher lee objects to be clamped have the drawbacks mentioned above: low clamping force, quick release, easy breaking.
The pinoe according to the invention, shown schematically in FIG. 2 oomporte two arms 5 and 6 of which e junction point 7 acts as a hinge. At their end @bre, the arms
5 and 6 are provided with nozzles 8 and 9, of a shape approp @ ée to. the application envisaged. The branches have a profile such that the beaks and the junction point 8 roam, they take support on a point 2. This support prevents excessive fatigue of the chain @ when the slats are opened wide. In addition, thanks to the elasticity of the branches 5 and 6, 11 increases the clamping effect of the nozzles.
For the use of the pliers, it suffices to exert a slight pressio9n on the branches 5 and 6, for example at the places marked with an arrow, which causes the spacer to separate.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 schematically represent three embodiments of the strip, in particular of the interpenetra-
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
tion of bands to ensure proper alignment of the nozzles. In fig. 3, this interpenetration is ensured by an opening of rectangular shape in one of the branches, and through which the other branch can pass.
In fig. 4, it is ensured by two notches made on opposite sides of the strip. In FIG. 5, it is provided by a notch made at one end, possibly widened, of the strip.
Figs. 7, 8, 9 and 10 show various embodiments of the pinoe, suitable for the intended application. They differ by the shape of the beaks, or by the shape of the arms,
It should be noted that in order to prevent the excessive spacing of the branches and their possible disengagement, stops, not shown in the drawing, constituted for example by lugs may be provided at the crossing of the branches. In addition, the clamp may include locking devices, oonstituted by jumpers for example, in order to ensure a very energetic clamping.
This description clearly shows that the clamp, in one piece, free from metal parts, has excellent elasticity, and can be made for all applications. In addition, it is light, unbreakable, and its cost price very low.
The invention is in no way limited to the embodiments described and / or shown here, but encompasses all the variants accessible to those skilled in the art.
