<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Figure 1 une vue en plan de l'appareil;
Figure 3 une ooupe par 3-3 de figure 2.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

"Safety device for gas cylinder for professional, artisanal, industrial or household use" 1.
The present invention provides a safety apparatus to be fitted to liquid gas cylinders or the like for professional or craft use, as well as industrial or household use.
This safety device is intended to stop the flow of gas in the event of a relative leak in the supply pipe of the device under consideration.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
A valve safety device in accordance with the invention is placed directly on the bottle, without using a pressure reducer or on upstream of oolui-oi, and has the advantage of being able to be adjusted at will according to 1 intended use. It is characterized in that the maximum gas flow rate that can pass through the apparatus is automatically regulated by the pressure of a spring acting on the valve stem, which pressure is determined for the intended use by the displacement of the valve. A piston.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the valve body is provided with an axial perforation which tapers off its central part to form the passage orifice and valve seat, said orifice forming on both sides. another an inlet chamber, in which bit, slide the valve with its valve stem protruding through said orifioe, and an outlet chamber in which is able to move a piston which is in contact with the valve stem by a pressure spring.
An exemplary embodiment of a safety device according to the invention is described below on the basis of the appended drawing, by way of example only. We see in:
Figure 1 a plan view of the apparatus;
Figure 2 a front elevational view of said apparatus, and
Figure 3 a cut by 3-3 of Figure 2.
The valve body 1 constituting the safety device is provided with an axial perforation divided into two arches 2, 3 by a duct. 4 smaller in diameter. The bottom of the inlet chamber 2 forms with the orifice of the duct 4 a valve seat provided with a seal 5. The front part of the inlet chamber 2 is provided with an internal thread 2 'for the line. to the liquid gas cylinder.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
In chamber 2 is housed a valve 6, the valve stem 7 of which passes through conduit 4 to protrude into outlet chamber 3, in which chamber can move a piston 8 provided on its face directed towards conduit 4 a cavity 8 'serving as a housing for a coil spring 9, which bears at its end on the valve stem 7 by means of an extension 7' of this stem serving as a guide .
To achieve a good seal when closing the valve on a non-seat, oelle-oi is provided with a truncated profile 6 'intended to come to rest on the seal 5 having an appropriate profile.
The truncated part of the valve is preceded by a cylindrical part 6 '', the diameter of which is slightly less than the internal diameter of the chamber 2 and which has grooves 10 for the gas inlet. Therefore, the valve stem 7 is provided at its anterior part with fillets 11 to make the passage of the gas easier.
The piston 8 has a diameter slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the outlet chamber 3, which has in its internal wall channels 12 for the gas outlet and at its outer part a 3 '' thread for connection to a supply line or a regulator. The oavity 8 'is extended by a duct 8' 'which also allows the passage of gas through said piston.
At a certain point, on its periphery, the piston
8 is provided with a groove 8 '' ', into which is inserted an orot 13 carried eccentrically by the end of a rod 14 arranged through the valve body
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
substantially perpendicular to the axis of the chamber 3. This rod is housed so as to be able to turn in a nozzle 15, screwed into a threaded hole 16 of the valve body, and in a hermetic seal 17 compressed by said nozzle.
The rod 14, projecting out of the valve body 1 and out of the bar 15, is surmounted by an operating button 13 intended to act on said tie so as to make it turn its housing. On: ^ said button is provided an index 19 and on the valve body at the base of the index a cadi'un groudé 20.
With the etanet safety device fixed to the bottle to be used and the bottle valve being open, the gas enters the chamber on, re 1, in the grooves 10, passes through the oonduit 7, enters the chamber of outlet 3 and flows through channels 12 to the outlet, that is to say to the appliance supply line or to the pressure reducer. The slide of the valve 6 being subjected to the action of the spring 9, it is on the adjustment of the spring that the closing of the valve depends. For a given normal gas flow rate suitable for the appliance to be served, the piston 8 is given an appropriate position constituting the adjustment of the spring.
This appropriate position of the piston has been obtained by acting on the rod 14 and its lug 13 via the button 13. The lug, moving eccentrically to the rod, moves the piston 8 forward or back in the chamber 3 and by This further compresses the spring 9 to a greater or lesser extent, which respectively allows a less or more rapid closing of the valve and consequently the passage of a higher or lower gas flow.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
We know oxaotemont the position h give the piston for a unage determined by the index 19 which moves with the button 18 on the dial 20,
When, after using a relatively high flow rate, a lower flow rate or vioovorsa is to be used, it is sufficient to turn the knob to place the index on the appropriate scale.
If, for example, due to a leak in the supply pipe, the flow in inlet chamber 2 exceeds the normal flow, the pressure of the incoming gas is greater than the pressure of the outlet 9 and the valve is form,
The reelection of the position of the piston is effected by an appropriate rotation of the drawbar 14 at a certain maximum angle corresponding to the graduation shown on half of the dial.
The other half of the dial corresponds to an additional rotation of the rod and consequently to an additional displacement of the piston necessary to push the valve back, when it is formed under the effect of a flow greater than the determined rate, displacement which is essential to push back the valve and put the device back into servioo after removing the leak, for example,
The advantage of the safety device according to the invention lies, in addition to the safety which it gives, in the fact that it can be used even on a bottle which is intended for different applications, o est-à ie which is intended to let different flow rates flow, since it can be easily adjusted.
Of course, it would not be departing from the scope of the invention, in the case of using a regulator, by making this safety device in one room with the regulator.
