   BREVET D'INVENTION
Société Anonyme
ATELIERS DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES
DE CHARLEROI (ACEC) résidant à Bruxelles CRAPAUDINE., SPECIALEMENT POUR WAGONS DE CHEMIN DE PER.

   (Invention: Monsieur Marcel STENS)

 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION WORKSHOPS
DE CHARLEROI (ACEC) residing in Brussels CRAPAUDINE., ESPECIALLY FOR CHEMIN DE PER.

   (Invention: Mr. Marcel STENS)
The object of the present invention is a crapaudine intended to withstand high loads, in particular as a part of articulation of bogies with respect to the frame in particularly heavy railway wagons such as those which are used, for example, for the transport of ores. .

   The crackers used in such applications generally consist of two parts having a spherical mutual friction surface the lubrication of which is quite ineffective due to the very high specific pressure.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 having the result of expelling the grease or oil from the parts in contact, which are, moreover, animated by relative movements of small amplitude and irregular. @ These parts therefore wear out quickly and have a strong tendency - to seizing, which can lead to their stalling, the cause of serious accidents such as the derailment of the wagon in a curve.

   In order to alleviate this danger, it has been proposed to insert between the two parts in contact a ring made of a material which does not cause seizing and which is resistant to wear, for example made of a material of fibrous texture, based on asbestos. Unfortunately, this crown disintegrates in a short time by the rolling effect to which it is subjected, resulting from the movements of the slider under the load it supports.

   The slider according to the invention, which comprises two movable parts relative to one another along a spherical surface, with the interposition of a friction part made of a material which does not cause seizing and which is resistant to wear, preferably of fibrous or laminated texture, for example based on asbestos or synthetic resins, is free from this drawback; it is characterized in that the friction piece, in the shape of a crown, is embedded and glued in an annular housing made in the surface of the convex part of the crapaudine and emerging from this surface, the outer surface of the said crown being in - continuation machined according to the spherical friction surface.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

   The following description and the appended drawing relate to a particular embodiment of the invention.

   The figure shows the convex part of a sliding block along a spherical surface with respect to a concave part, not shown, integral with a bogie of a railway wagon. This convex part 1, which has a central bore 2, intended to receive an axis transmitting the traction force to the bogie, supports the frame of the vehicle. It has a spherical surface 3 in which an annular housing 4 is formed, the bottom of which is machined along a spherical zone and in which is embedded and glued a friction piece 5 in the form of a crown, emerging from the surface 3.

   This crown is made of a material which does not cause seizing and is resistant to wear, with a fibrous or laminated structure, for example based on asbestos or synthetic resins. The outer surface of the crown 5 is machined after bonding, following the spherical friction surface.

   The slider formed in this way presents no danger of seizing and does not require lubrication. It is however advantageous to impregnate the material constituting the ring 5 with oil in order to protect the metal parts against oxidation.

   One can, of course, imagine variants to the: embodiment of the crapaudine described above without departing from the scope of the present invention.
