 <Desc/Clms Page number 2>

 <Desc/Clms Page number 3>

 cylindrique 1.

 <Desc/Clms Page number 4>

  LOAD ATTACHMENT DEVICE.

   The present invention relates to a device for attaching a load controlled remotely by means of a gaseous or liquid fluid under pressure acting on a device for blocking hooks which do not engage with the load.

   The object of the invention is to make it impossible to release the load when the latter is suspended freely without being placed on a support, even when the release control is actuated. It is characterized in that

 <Desc / Clms Page number 2>

 the hooking device consists of a hook locking element suspended from a cable or a chain and by an element supporting the hooks, sliding relative to the locking element in such a way that the hooks rest on the '' locking element under the influence of the weight of the load which constitutes at least part of the force responsible for locking the hooks,

   that the pressurized fluid can be admitted into an expandable chamber formed on the one hand by walls forming part of the locking element and on the other hand by walls forming part of the element supporting the hooks, and that the maximum pressure of the pressurized fluid is chosen to be low enough so that it is unable to overcome the force responsible for blocking the hooks, when the load is suspended freely from the hooking device. the invention is described below with respect to an example of a particularly advantageous embodiment.

   The example relates to a fastening device that can be used in particular for handling fuel and adjustment rods in a nuclear reactor. It is shown in section in the single figure of the accompanying drawing.

   The hooking device consists of a locking element formed by a part 1, in principle cylindrical, terminated at its lower part by a truncated cone 2, the minimum section of which coincides with the section of the part.

 <Desc / Clms Page number 3>

 cylindrical 1. This blocking element is suspended from an element 3 establishing the connection between it and the chain or the cable, not shown of a lifting device which is not visible in the drawing. An element 4, supporting crocheta
5 roughly in the form of a hollow cylinder slidable relative to the cylindrical part 1 of the locking element.

   Between the cylindrical part 1 and the element 4 is formed an expandable chamber 6 connected to a pipe for a pressurized fluid 7. The section of this expandable chamber measured perpendicularly with respect to the axis of the device is chosen. of such magnitude according to the pressure of the fluid we pressurized or vice versa, the pressure of the pressurized fluid is chosen according to the section of the expandable chamber such that the maximum pressure admitted in the expandable chamber 6 is unable to overcome the force responsible for blocking the hooks, when a load 8 is freely suspended therein,
The force responsible for locking the hooks 5 is a function of the force with which these hooks are pressed against the truncated cone 2.

   This force is composed by the weight of the hooks 5 and of the element 4, the pressure of a helical spring 9 and the weight of the load.

   When compressed air or pressurized oil is admitted into the expandable chamber 7, an antagonistic force to the force responsible for the blockage is created. This force must be large enough to overcome the frictional resistance of the assembly, the pressure of the spring 9

 <Desc / Clms Page number 4>

 and the weight of element 4 and Hooks 5, but must be less than the sum of this bore and the weight of the minimum load. Thus the load cannot be released as long as it remains freely suspended, even when the release is commanded by admitting the fluid we press into the expandable chamber 7.

   This release command can be executed only when the weight of the load no longer acts on the hooks 5, that is to say when the load rests on a support.
