Chaudière à double chambre de combustion.
----------------------------------------
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
Une telle chaudière peut être réalisée fous différentes formes d'exécution, par exemple Ainsi, la cloison verticale peut être courbée dans une mesure déterminée vers l'intérieur au-dessous de la fente de sortie, de sorte que les gaz du foyer, qui s'élèvent à cet endroit, sont d'abord ramenée vers l'intérieur de la chambre, avant qu'ils ne puissent quitter celle-ci par l'ouverture longitudinale;

<Desc/Clms Page number 6>

Double combustion chamber boiler.
----------------------------------------
The present invention relates to a boiler with a double combustion chamber and relates in particular to the arrangement and the arrangement of a second combustion chamber of a boiler, which chamber is arranged in the vicinity of the combustion chamber of standard type. , or in the latter, so that the boiler can operate on solid, liquid or gaseous fuel.
Such boilers comprising two hearths, that is to say, which offer the possibility of burning a solid, liquid or gaseous fuel, are known per se. The known types of boilers with two fuels consist in that two combustion chambers are arranged one after the other and are connected to each other by grids which can be concealed, arranged at the side. lower end of the partition separating the combustion chambers.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
In such an arrangement, one of the two combustion chambers is always withdrawn from the supply by the combustion gases, so that the heating surfaces of this combustion chamber are not used, which leads to the boiler of larger dimensions when it comes to reaching a certain surface heat density.
To this is added the fact that, in the boilers thus established, it is necessary, in most cases, to operate valves or registers when it comes to using sometimes one) sometimes the other of the combustion chambers. .
In addition to the resulting additional personnel costs, as well as the clogging of the devices to be operated - which constitutes a deterioration, as regards their function and their longevity - a false operation can, under certain conditions, create a risk. explosion,
Attempts have already been made to eliminate these drawbacks by means of a boiler which also comprises two combustion chambers separated by a partition forming a water screen, these combustion chambers leading to a common ring situated immediately below. from the vault of the boiler, the water-shielding partitions, which limit the combustion chamber, being curved in the direction of the draft and terminating at a certain distance from the vault of the boiler.
In the boiler constructed in accordance with this known suggestion, the second combustion chamber, in which the burner opens, is provided with an opening facing upwards, located at the end opposite to the mouth of the burner. In this arrangement, there is, on the one hand, the danger of projection of solid fuels into this chamber; on the other hand, the combustion gas path is unfavorable, this also in the chamber itself * -
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
what obliges to provide it with a masonry - that downstream of this room.
Unlike these boilers, which have various drawbacks, the boiler according to the invention is essentially characterized in that the oil-fired combustion chamber is limited by a water jacket which encloses it on all sides and which has a section corresponding to an oval, side openings, intended for the introduction of a burner being provided in the lower half of the chamber, while a hidden longitudinal opening is provided, in the upper part of the chamber, in the partition forming a water screen and located at the side of the combustion chamber for solid fuel, this opening extending over the entire length of the combustion chamber.
The lower edge of the longitudinal opening, that is, the section of the partition located at this location, is curved towards. inside the combustion chamber.
In a combustion chamber thus shaped, characterized as indicated above, the flame of the burner placed laterally strikes the opposite wall, rebounds in part and then moves in the opposite direction, which is favorable to the process. of combustion. The flame is then deflected vertically upwards through the wall opposite the burner and is returned along the horizontal vault, so that virtually the whole of the oil-fired combustion chamber fills with gas from the combustion. of the last. This results in a very high temperature, which increases the rate of ignition and ultimately explains the favorable combustion, ie, correct high soot formation and CO2 content.
In addition, the heating surfaces absorb very large amounts of oha- tor in the region of this combustion chamber.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
Such a boiler can be made in various embodiments, for example Thus, the vertical partition can be bent to a certain extent inwardly below the outlet slit, so that the gases from the fireplace, which s 'rise at this point, are first brought back to the interior of the chamber, before they can leave it through the longitudinal opening;
or, a detector is placed in front of the horizontal exit tent, which deflects the combustion gases which escape from the slit downwards and, together with the upper part of the combustion chamber, prevents combustion particles - solid tible cannot be projected into the flues, through the oil-fired combustion chamber, or into the latter combustion chamber itself, which is also pocketed in the first embodiment described and where a deflector can also be provided arranged upstream of the combustion chamber & fuel oil.
Furthermore, the combustion chamber according to the invention * offers an advantage in that, thanks to the arrangement of the burner in the lower part of the chamber, an additional upward force is established, so that the resistance internal decreases sharply and. that normal fan burners can be used. On the other hand, in the known systems, in order to ensure favorable combustion, a certain back pressure must be established in the oil-fired combustion chamber, which however leads to an increase in the cost price of the burner, because, in this case, a more powerful fan must be used for the burner.
In addition, oil-fired combustion chambers operating with back pressure tend to operate noisily.
The boiler according to the invention will be described below,
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
by way of example, in a more detailed manner, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings s
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal sectional view of a boiler in which a second combustion chamber is installed.
Figure 2 is a sectional view along line I-I of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a sectional view of a small capacity boiler including a second combustion chamber.
Fig. $ 4 and a *, sectional view along line III-III of fig 3,
As shown in fig. 1, the combustion chamber 2 for solid fuel, of a normal boiler 1, is separated from the flue 4 by the installation of the combustion chamber 3.
This combustion chamber 3 has an internal free section corresponding approximately to an oval. It emerges from FIG. 2 that the combustion chamber 3, which practically constitutes a separate boiler in the whole of the installation, extends transversely into the boiler 1 and is surrounded * by all by walls forming a water screen. The side walls $ are slightly arched, which allows them to better absorb the stresses. The burner 6 is introduced into one of the two lower orifices 7 of the chamber, while the other orifice is closed by a cover 8.
The casing thus formed of the combustion chamber communicates with the combustion chamber 2 of the boiler 1 for solid fuel through an opening 9 oriented horizontally. Near this opening, the end 11 of the partition 10 of the chamber is bent inwards

chamber, so as to form a spout over the entire length of this opening. The bent upper end of the chamber partition 12 blocks the opening 9 in a large hovel, so that particles of solid fuel - when this is used in the boiler - are not likely to collect. reach room 3.
Further protection can be achieved by adopting a deflector 13, known per se in this application, which preferably also forms a water screen. On the one hand, this deflector 13 prevents projections of particles

! itUw the chamber, z as well as dan9 o1iw of the third miras chamber) on the other hand, this deflector advantageously acts as a heat transmission surface for the gases from the hearth which escape through the opening 9, when the boiler works with liquid or gaseous fuel in chamber 3. The heat from the gases in the fireplace is very favorably recovered not only by the internal shape of the chamber

combustion 3, but also because, thanks to the presence of the opening 9 of the chamber 3, the gases are directed to a relatively great depth in the chamber 2, intended for solid fuels, so that the gases can also lick the side walls and the vault, forming a water screen, of this chamber, giving them heat.
Freezes them. 3 and 4 show the same basic arrangement and the same arrangement of the second combustion chamber as in the figures. 1 and 2,. but applied to a low capacity boiler. The elements which correspond to those of figs. 1 and 2 are designated by the reference numerals, marked with a "prime".
The combustion chamber 2 ', in which the gases of

combustion, coming from chamber 3 ', arrive first. 'placed through the opening 9', however, does not communicate over the entire width with the flues, its flow section being masked by a partition 14 extending over about half of it. width of the boiler, so that a circulation of the gases from the furnace is established as indicated by the arrows 15, which ensures a path of smoke of great length. Here the flues are not arranged them. one after the other but side by side and are separated from each other by a partition 16.
It goes without saying that a combustion chamber thus formed, as shown in the figs. 1 to 3, where it occupies a location combined with that of a solid fuel boiler, can be used without difficulty - while retaining its essential configuration: the, but as a unit occupying a separate location - as a special boiler for liquid and gaseous fuels.
It goes without saying that, in this case, the lateral sides of the chamber are formed by continuous double walls and that the flues for the flue gases which flow are arranged on the side of the chamber where the flue is located. opening 9. However, these flues may retain the arrangement shown by way of example in FIG. 1, in which case the water screen deflector 13 is connected to the chamber 3, below the spout 11 and extends to the vault of the boiler, thus ensuring the sealing complete.
