<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

The present invention relates to the improvement of the profile of the edges of streets or roads.
The new profile proposed by the invention offers greater ease and safety to vehicle drivers, it allows vehicles to be parked along and in the immediate vicinity of shoulders and eliminates any danger of deterioration of the sidewalls of the tires fitted to the vehicles. . It therefore directly increases the free width of vehicle lanes, since it eliminates the drawback of users parking their vehicles too far from the curbs or shoulders so as not to damage the vehicle. the sidewalls of the tires fitted to their vehicle.
According to the invention, the part of the edge of the street or road, oriented towards the roadway, is profiled according to a curve in an inclined plane instead of presenting an often acute angle, in addition, it is also possible, to follow.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Before the invention, to provide said border, at the level of the roadway, with a horizontal extension provided with a stream of water with softened lines intended to receive and evacuate road water.
The use of such curbs has the advantage of eliminating the almost right angle formed at the junction between the roadway and the curb of the sidewalk or the curb, an angle which retains impurities and makes sweeping and cleaning difficult. removal of these; on the other hand, the fact that the stream of water is integral with the edge facilitates the placement of the latter, provides an appreciable saving in labor and eliminates the repointing of the bottom of the stream. In addition, the base of such a border has a seat with a value double that of the current borders and therefore makes it possible to proportionally reduce the total height of this new border.
These new borders, just like the usual borders, can be executed in granite or other limestone, be cut or manufactured in any suitable materials, such as concrete of variable composition meeting the clauses of the specifications, or in reconstituted stone, etc. .
Depending on the requirements, the borders which are the subject of the invention may or may not be provided at their ends with buttons and buttonholes.
Two embodiments, given by way of non-limiting example, are shown in the accompanying drawings, in which - Fig. 1 is a vertical section and in profile of a first embodiment of a simple border.
Fig. 2 is an identical section of a border comprising a stream of water.
Fig. 3 shows in perspective a border according to the invention, the rounded face of which is provided with longitudinal ribs.
Fig. 4 shows the position of a vehicle tire against a curb of the type currently in use.
Fig. 5 represents the clear position of the same tire against a curb according to the invention.
The border shape 1, illustrated in FIG. 1, is characterized by the profile of its upper face and the upper part of that facing the roadway.
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
The profile starting at the level of the roadway 2 first bends in a slight re-entrant curve 3, then forms a rounding 4 to end at the head of the curb and at the so-called sidewalk level with a flat surface 5.
The second embodiment, shown at. fig. 2 differs from the first by the fact that the base of the base of the curb has a value double that of the first so as to allow the profile of its face facing the roadway to be extended in a net of water with softened lines.
The profile of the curb 11 begins at the level of the roadway 12, forms the stream of water 13, then rises in a rounded shape 14 and ends at the level of the sidewalk with the flat surface 15.
In order to prevent accidental slipping by pedestrians traveling on sidewalks, the rounding of the side of the curbs facing the roadway can be provided with longitudinal ribs 7, the spacing and depth of which can be adapted to the needs and requirements, such as shown in fig. 3.
Fig. 4 illustrates the position of a vehicle tire 8 against a curb 9 of the type currently in use and shows the risk of deterioration of the sidewalls of the tires rubbing against the vertical face of the curb or against the angle formed. at the meeting point of said vertical face and the upper face of the border.
This risk of deterioration is practically eliminated by the use of the edge profile according to the invention.
Fig. 5 shows that the sidewalls of the tire 8 'are completely free from the edge 91 made according to the invention.
It is expressly specified that the object of the invention is not exclusively limited to the embodiments represented and described and that modifications may be made to them, in particular as regards the more or less pronounced appearance of the lines. curves which constitute the profile thereof, provided that the said modifications are not contradicted by the following claims.
