<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
La figure 1 est une vue en perspective d'un mode de réalisation de l'invention;
La figure 2 est une vue de face de l'accoudoir;
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>

The present invention relates to an improvement to armrests, in particular for aircraft seats, and proposes in particular to provide an armrest which is simply installed by sliding it into position on the seat frame from a end of the latter.
It also proposes to provide an armrest slidably mounted relative to the seat frame for installation or removal, the armrest carrying one or more pushbuttons or the like for various uses, for example a button. call hostess, radio, etc. The armrest may also have air outlets and valve control knobs
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
in order to allow the occupant of the seat to control the exhaust of the air at will.
The armrest is provided with a flexible conductor for the various knobs and valves mentioned, which can extend under the underside of the seat and be removably connected to suitable outlets in the side of the seat. aircraft, eliminating the need for socket and plug connections on the armrest and seat frame.
The armrest also carries a backrest tilt locking mechanism, as well as the control buttons necessary for this purpose, this mechanism being connected to the backrest by a link which is released when the backrest is folded forward. from the upright position, so that the armrest and the various elements or devices it carries, such as a seat frame assembly, can be removed simply by sliding the armrest backwards by compared to the chassis. It should be noted that the detachable connection between the backrest and the tilt lock mechanism is re-established by simply sliding the armrest into position on the seat frame and then lifting the backrest to the upright position.
In the accompanying drawings:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the invention;
Figure 2 is a front view of the armrest;
Figure 3 is a partial view of the detachable connection between the backrest and the tilt locking mechanism supported by the armrest.
In the drawings, 2 denotes a seat frame and

slidably on a locking track 5 with which the frame is provided. This track extends in the longitudinal direction of the seat and allows the armrest to slide on the seat frame from one end of the seat, thus facilitating the positioning as well as the - raising of the armrest relative to the frame.
Inside the armrest is a tilt locking mechanism 6, which allows the seat back 8 to be moved at various tilt angles and then locks the backrest in the set position. . The particular type of this locking mechanism is not part of the invention and therefore has not been shown in detail except in that it. comprises an axially movable member 10 located within the armrest and extending lengthwise. This element carries a button 12, which protrudes outside the armrest, where it is removably attached to the backrest 8.
This removable linkage comprises a U-shaped hook or clip 14, so that when the backrest 8 is tilted variously, the linkage between the backrest and the tilt locking mechanism remains intact. However, it is obvious that when it is desired to slide the armrest backwards in order to remove it from the seat frame, it suffices to tilt the backrest 8 forward from its vertical position in order to detach the backrest. backrest of the tilt lock mechanism so that the locking mechanism and armrest can be slidably removed as a unit from the seat frame (see figure 3).
Inside the armrest is an air collector 16 and at least one or more air outlets 18 are provided through which the air from the collector 16 is provided.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
evacuates when the valve control button (s) 20 are operated. The armrest also carries one or more push button switches 22 for music with headset or radio, and a push button switch 24 for calling the flight attendant.
The duct serving the air manifold and the buttons 22 and 24 has been indicated at 26: it simply exits the armrest and is then pushed into or otherwise connected with the appropriate outlets made in the side of the transfer means. - port in which the seat is located *
It can be seen that in order to remove the armrest from the seat frame, it suffices to fold the backrest 8 of the seat forward from its vertical position on the seat itself. The armrest and the components it contains can then be slid backwards in order to remove the armrest and its components as a whole from the frame.
It is further seen that the armrest can have one or more elements, for example a call button, an air valve button, etc., so that they can be removed as a set with the armrest or be installed as a set with it.
Naturally, the invention should not be considered as limited to the embodiment described and shown, which is capable of receiving various variants falling within the scope and spirit of the invention.
