<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

It is known that workers working in steelworks or blast furnaces, workers such as sandblasters, welders or trimmers on boats, and 'this, are exposed daily to harmful gases that undermine them and prevent them after a few years. to continue all work,
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
Appliances such as vacuum cleaners intended to suck in this harmful air which the worker breathes in during his work have already been used to remedy this drawback, but these appliances have not been able to give good results either because they were placed more or less far from the worker, or that the volume of air or noxious gas they sucked was not large enough to remove any intoxication.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this difficulty and for this purpose it consists of an individual protective device acting in a direction diametrically opposed to what has been done to date, in the sense that, instead of sucking in harmful gases from the working environment, according to the invention, fresh air is in., blown near the worker's respiratory tract from an insufflating horn carried by the latter.
Another object of the invention consists in mounting on the fresh air supply pipe a heating device of known embodiment. Another object is still to mount on said pipe, an ozonizer device.
To better understand the invention, the schematic drawing appended to this specification shows, by way of example, one embodiment of an apparatus protecting against harmful gases.
We see in this drawing that the worker wears a plate 1 fixed to his neck by a chain 2 and supporting a distributor member 3 with horn 4, the flared opening of which is directed towards the nose of the worker; the blown air current extends up to eye level in order to protect them. The distributor member 3 is connected by a flexible material pipe 5, for example in

rubber, to a fan 6 connected to a socket by an electric wire 7, A tap 8 is provided on the pipe 5 in order to allow the worker to regulate the inflow of compressed air
The worker having electrical outlets near his workplace chooses the one closest to him to insert the fan plug 5.
When getting down to work and after having passed chain 2 around his neck, he opens distributor 3 and in this way receives an influx of fresh air which counterbalances and even expels the harmful gases.
To further improve the efficiency of this protective device, it is possible to place on the pipe 5, at its outlet from the fan, a heating device 9, by electric resistance or the like, as well as an ozonator 10.
In this way, the heated and ozonized air blown into the worker's respiratory tract instead of the harmful gases blown in until now will allow him to maintain excellent health despite his work, which is generally considered dangerous.
It is understood that the installation per se will vary depending on the envisaged application; thus it will be possible to connect the pipe 5 directly to a compressed air pipe possibly provided with a suitable pressure reducer.
