<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Egalement
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>
<Desc/Clms Page number 6>
Le dessin ci-joint représente à titre d'exemple, pour expliquer l'invention, deux installations permettant la réalisation du pro- cédé selon l'invention : la fig. 1 est une vue en coupe longitudinale à travers un four à tunnel supposé de position fixe et à travers les parties y raccor- dées d'une installation destinée en particulier à la fabrication d'un pro- duit granulé fritté;
La fig. 2 est une vue en plan de dessus de cette installa-. tion;
La fig. 3 est une vue en coupe longitudinale d'une instal- lation pouvant être transportée comme un seul tout et destinée de préféren- ce à la fabrication de ciment ou analogue ou à la cuisson de chaux ou gyp- se, les parois avant étant supposées omises pour permettre de voir l'inté- rieur, tandis que la partie médiane, qui corresppnd aux fig. 1 et 2, est arrachée;
<Desc/Clms Page number 7>
<Desc/Clms Page number 8>
A l'extrémité de chargement du four est raccordé un disposi- tif dépoussiéreur 40, avec utilisation de la chaleur résiduaire et avec soufflerie correspondante 41 également comme dans le cas des fig. 1 et 2,;

PROCESS AND INSTALLATION FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A SINKED PRODUCT, IN PARTICULAR FROM A LIGHT POROUS CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL OR MOLDED BODIES FROM
FROM THIS.
The present invention relates to a process and a plant for the production of a sintered product, namely, mainly of a porous lightweight building material, in the form of a sintered granulated product, and of moldings formed. therefrom, preferably using low value fuel in the raw material to be fired. The method and the installation according to the invention must also be able to also be applied to the manufacture of cement and / or to the firing of lime or gypsum.
In recent construction technology, large-sized building elements have been employed to a great extent, which are made of natural or artificial light building materials using cement as a binder. Among these lightweight building materials, pumice plays a special role in areas not very far from pumice deposits. However, construction elements made with cement as a binder have the disadvantage of long setting times and low resistance to crushing.
Lightweight artificial building materials made of gas-inclusion concrete or aerated concrete or porous concrete are, despite steam hardening, not always completely stable in terms of volume and have variable resistance, whereas natural pumice stone is only available in limited places.
The main object of the present invention is therefore to obtain a process for; the manufacture of a light, porous building material in the form of a sintered granulated product with properties similar to those of pumice stone, as well as the manufacture of building elements from such a granulated product, preferably without the use of cement, which transmits the cold between the grains which are
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
by themselves heat insulating.
It is known to manufacture lightweight building materials on a rotating sintering grid from debris or fragments of bricks and filter ash. These sintering screens are, however, intended for the manufacture of cement and are not suitable for the manufacture of lightweight building materials in large quantities, since the production, in the case of their use, is too low compared to the costs of The installation and at the expense of fuel and in addition the monitoring is complicated. It is known, on the other hand, to manufacture, from coal shales, such as waste rock from laundries and similar waste products from mines, ceramic materials under the form of a granulated product by baking in a rotating tube furnace.
Due to the high cost of installation and maintenance of the rotating tube furnace, exposed to heavy wear, this process is not suitable for the manufacture of building materials in large quantities. Compared to the known methods, the invention proposes to make the manufacturing costs, for the same volume of finished prefabricated building elements, lower than in the case of the manufacture of corresponding building elements in the furnace. ring finger of brickyards. In addition, it should be possible to use a fuel of very low value, such as ash, low value lignite, peat ?, slow distillation residues, oil shales, coal residues, petroleum residues or the like.
The fuel must constitute, in a known manner, predominantly or entirely, a constituent of the raw material to be sintered.
The main objects of the invention are achieved by the fact that the firing of the raw material, loaded in the wet state and containing, as required, also clay or other non-combustible mineral constituents, takes place on a grid. mobile, preferably cooled, in a continuous fire tunnel furnace at the sintering temperature.
Thanks to the use of the mobile grid, it is sufficient that the tunnel kiln has a relatively short length of about 6 to 10m and this kiln can be of a construction similar to that of the Lepol kiln in the cement industry, where it is used for the calcination of the material constituting the charge at relatively low temperatures.
In the process according to the invention, on the contrary, the sintering temperatures, of the order of magnitude of 1400 ° C., necessary in the abacus case depending on the composition of the raw material, are used, and tests have shown that surprisingly, that mobile grids, made of alloys of great value, if necessary cooled by moving fluids, resistant to the stresses due to these temperatures, in particular when they are, as is known in the case of sintering grids rotary, covered with a protective lining consisting of pre-sintered fine grain material.
In the embodiment of the invention, one works by the method of drawing by suction, so that the grid is only heated to a temperature notably below the sintering temperature.
It is accepted, in a known manner, that the protective lining of the grid is not completely burnt or not completely sintered.This fine grain lining is then separated by sieving and is brought back as protective grid lining to the loading point of the oven. .
According to one embodiment of the invention, it has been found, in the case of the use of fly ash, that, for example, large quantities are collected as waste product from pulverized coal fireplaces in the large scale. industry, that the addition of non-combustible mineral constituents to the raw material, as well as external heating of the tunnel kiln, can be completely dispensed with. If such combustible raw materials of this kind are not available in sufficient quantity, as the raw material for carrying out the invention, mainly clay, clay, shale or the like is used. , and these mineral materials are preferably mixed with at least about 25% by weight of the combustible substance of the kind mentioned.
Also
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
in the case of a mixture in these proportions, heating outside the tunnel oven is generally not necessary, but it is only necessary to place an ignition oven, heated with gas or oil , of known nature, in the vicinity of the place where the raw material is loaded, the combustion air being advantageously introduced in the opposite direction to the direction of advance of the mobile grate and being driven 'down' through the surface of the grid.
If the combustible substance available is not sufficient by itself to reach the sintering temperature, additional heating with oil or gas of the tunnel kiln, i.e., preferably a combination of the tunnel kiln, is provided. tunnel with an annular kiln used for other uses, for example in a tile or brickyard, and from which the waste gases are then brought, passing over an apron, to the front wall of the tunnel kiln, through which exits the mobile grid.
At this point there is advantageously provided a conveying device, for example a pin cylinder, which produces a preliminary division of the baked material in the form of a cake and which brings it to a sieving device, preferably a drum sieve. . In this sieving device, different fractions can be separated by sieving, the material in grains of 3 to 15 mm being brought back as protective lining of the grid to the place of loading of the tunnel kiln, while the fraction in Very fine grains of about 0 to 3 mm is added as a recovery material, for the adjustment of the moisture content separately from the grid lining, to the raw material, prepared in the usual manner in the brickyard industry.
For the preparation of the mineral constituents it is therefore possible, for example, to use a vertical grinder or an impact and rebound mill, and optionally also a mixer. It is essential that the raw material is loaded, without prior drying, with a composition and with a moisture content just sufficient to achieve the desired porosity. Compared to the manufacture of building materials in brickyards, the usual consumption of fuel for the usable drying is thus eliminated.
The coarse grain of the previously divided sinter cakes is crushed, for example in a pumice crusher, to about 8-30 mm and is then subjected to further processing in order to give building elements of any shape. wanted; according to the invention, the waste gases from the tunnel oven are preferably used for cooking.
The treatment can be continued in a known manner; by the clay-limestone sandstone process. As mentioned at the start of the description, however, as far as possible, cement should not be employed as a binder, and in a preferred embodiment of the invention the granulated product is therefore mixed with a binder clay. at low melting point and is subjected to baking, in the usual manner, for example in the tunnel oven, at a temperature of 600 to 800 ° C., in molds to give molded bodies.
It is good to previously achieve an increase in density of the mixture of granulated product and binder clay by shaking, advantageously with electromagnetic shaking devices, the excess moisture thus being separated. If a high value, low melting point binder clay is not available, by suitable additions, such as magnetic iron oxide, the clay can be given a low melting point. available, or make it colloidal, during the treatment, for example with alkalis.
It is also possible, by reducing cooking, to lower the cooking temperature. The proportion of binder clay in the mixture should amount to about 20% by weight.
Steel or iron frames, necessary for static reasons, may be placed in the molds prior to baking. Some desired pre-stressing occurs under the effect of baking.
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
The porosity of the previously manufactured granulated product promotes rapid evaporation of the remaining moisture; this evaporation can be produced already in the zone of the fore-hearth, if necessary by using the smoking process, and this without causing any damage to the molded products. Also, due to the lean composition of the mixture, no distortions occur in the cooking zone.
An important advantage of the invention is that, not only in the preparation of the granulated product, but also for the subsequent baking of the building elements, prior drying will not be necessary. The fuel economy thus achieved makes economical the consumption of fuel in the raw material for obtaining the sintering temperature and results in the total, for the manufacture of the construction elements, a smaller number of calories than for the mono quantity in a brickyard. In addition, extremely low value fuels such as peat, lignite or ash can be used which are otherwise insufficient for heating the annular kiln in brickyards.
The method according to the invention is suitable primarily for the manufacture of large building elements, which can then be manufactured in the form of porous massive stones and of a stable volume, so that the manufacture of hollow stones or latticework, which frequently causes difficulties in brickyards, is thus eliminated. The elimination of deformations in the cooking zone also enables the safe manufacture of thin-walled moldings, such as stone for ceilings or roof tiles. In the manufacture of roof tiles, it is advisable to apply a vitrified layer by sintering on the surface of the moldings, to ensure a waterproof surface.
The sintered granulated product made in accordance with the invention can, instead of being made into building elements, also be processed to be made into a binder, either in the cement nature of the layer or as a mixed binder. The granulated product according to the invention is then, instead of the granulated slag product, of a grain size of about 0 to 3 mm. as obtained as recovery material, mixed with Portland cement or lime in accordance with the requirements of standards, i.e. in the proportion of about 30 to 70% of this recovery material pbur approximately 70 to 30% Portland cement or lime.
In order to be able to adapt the process according to the invention to local conditions of suitable mineral and fuel constituents of the raw material, the tunnel furnace used for sintering is preferably constructed in such a way that it can be transported in whole or in one. small number of parts, for example as part of a rotating tube furnace which united by construction with the ignition furnace and the movable grate, can be transported on a large truck and which then only needs to be fitted with the The desired location is the draft suction blower and dust separator, on the one hand, and the sieving device, on the other hand, or which can be made transportable in one piece.
As already mentioned, the method according to the invention makes it possible, by using a mobile grid in the tunnel kiln, to give this tunnel kiln, used for sintering, a short length, for example 6 to 10 m. , and thus to make it easily transportable ,, From this point of view, the invention also relates to the application of the mentioned method and of the installation according to the invention, using a transportable tunnel oven, to the manufacture of cement or binders similar to cement and / or to the firing of lime or gypsum.
By the expression "cement-like binders" is meant here in particular artificial pozzolans, which are made, for example, from clay, shale clay and rock containing silica, by heat treatment, in a manner known per se, as well as mixed binders, which are produced by grinding such pozzolans
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
artificial or natural or similar hydraulic materials with the addition of accelerators and which achieve minimum strengths fixed by standard prescriptions. Like accelerators we use like
Portland, white lime, dolomitic lime and gypsum, or mixtures of these materials.
The application of a transportable installation, according to the process forming the object of the invention, to the manufacture of cement or of materials similar to cement, results, compared with the fixed position installations employed until 'here, "important advantages: to be economical, fixed-position installations must have a very high production, but also corresponding sales possibilities in a neighborhood favorable from the point of view of transport. Developed from the point of view of the means of communication, the costs of transport may considerably exceed the value of the goods.
In special cases this disadvantage has therefore been obviated, for the construction of extraordinarily large hydraulic works, by mounting a stationary installation and dismantling it again later, which is naturally not economical in comparison. to the transportable installation.
The process according to the invention can on the other hand, with the corresponding transportable installation, be carried out in the immediate vicinity of the place of use of the product and / or of the place of obtaining the raw material. . When changing the location of these locations, it takes almost nothing more than assembly work to put it into operation. The dimensions of the group of furnaces according to the invention can in each case be determined as required within the narrowest limits, and it is not necessary to take into account the transport costs. The usual and necessary raw materials for manufacturing are mostly found in the vicinity of the places of use.
The implementation of the process according to the invention is also not limited to the use of a fuel that is present, precisely available at the location in question and / or of low value. The installation according to the invention can also be mounted, for example, in areas underdeveloped economically and from the point of view of communication technology, for example in virgin forest areas, and it can Wanders heated in these places for example by means of gas from wood-burning gasifiers, if there is precisely wood or other fuel and not coal available in this place.
All these advantages of the invention are felt to a particular degree in the case of the manufacture of cement or similar binders at sintering temperatures of 1400-1500 C for example, that is to say with high requirements of heat, and not in the case of the known calcination of raw materials in the Lépol furnaces at relatively low temperatures, which calcination, like the firing of lime and gypsum, took place in fixed position installations.
However, the installation according to the invention can also be used for baking lime or gypsum from the raw materials suitable for this purpose, with the same advantages of a possible change of location one will naturally produce in the furnace, instead of sintering temperatures, the usual firing temperatures, for example up to 600 C.
Where mobile grates have been used up to now for the production of cement, this has also been done only in installations with a fixed position and with free movable grates (without tunnel) and, for the cooling of the material subjected to firing. , it was necessary to mount a cooling drum in front of the furnace.
In la.réalisation of the method according to the invention, 'on the other hand, the combustion air is preferably introduced in counter-current with respect to the direction of advance. the grill 'moving and we lead this air to the ignition point and we
<Desc / Clms Page number 6>
worse then through the material subjected to cooking and the grid; Air thus cools not only the material which has been sopmised for cooking, but also the grid; without the need for a cooling drum.
The combustion air is furthermore subjected to pre-heating, in an economical manner, in the manner of a heat recovery fireplace.
A plant for carrying out the process according to the invention can therefore be constructed so that it can be transported as a small number of parts or as a single lathe. At least the main part, that is to say the tunnel kiln, can, for transport, be mounted on a low-rise trolley or be constructed as a rolling device, if necessary self-propelled. In the case of prolonged assembly in one place, the carriage can be removed and replaced by a concrete foundation or also be supported by such a concrete foundation.
As is already known for fixed position installations, the transportable installation can be provided with a device for using the waste heat for the flue gases from the furnace, preferably with a dust removal device. These additional devices can constitute elements which can be dismantled and if necessary transported separately, but can also be transported in one piece with the oven.
The device for using the waste heat can, for example, be used in the usual way for the production of steam and / or for heating,
Furthermore, the cooking operation can, as far as the raw materials and the temperatures and the final product are concerned, be carried out in the usual manner in the installation according to the invention.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, in order to explain the invention, two installations enabling the process according to the invention to be carried out: FIG. 1 is a view in longitudinal section through a tunnel kiln assumed to be in a fixed position and through the parts connected thereto of an installation intended in particular for the manufacture of a sintered granulated product;
Fig. 2 is a top plan view of this installation. tion;
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view of an installation capable of being transported as a single unit and preferably intended for the manufacture of cement or the like or for the firing of lime or gypsum, the front walls being assumed to be omitted. to allow the interior to be seen, while the middle part, which corresponds to figs. 1 and 2, is torn off;
and
Fig. 4 is a rear elevational view of the installation according to FIG. 3, viewed from the discharge end of the product obtained.
According to Figs, 1 and 2, a tunnel kiln 1, built in refractory masonry or comprising a coating of such a masonry, comprises, over the entire length of the chamber 2 of the furnace, a mobile grid 3, which can be cooled by water, which moves in the direction of the arrow on the support cylinders 4,5. The control takes place, for example, by the shaft 6 of the support cylinder 4 from an electric motor 10.
At the right end of the oven chamber 2 is mounted, in the. vault of this, a loading hopper in two parts 7,8 part 7 is used to feed the raw material which has undergone a preparation, while the protective lining is first brought through part 8 for the grid, which consists of fine-grained material previously sintered, with a grain size of 3 to 15 mm, and which is brought in a layer with a thickness of 3 to 5 cm on the surface of the grid in before the raw material.
<Desc / Clms Page number 7>
near the feed hopper 7, 8 is mounted in the vault of the furnace as an ignition furnace 9, heated with oil or gas, with combustion nozzle 11, furnace through which the raw material freshly fed is brought to the ignition temperature of its combustible constituents.
Under the upper strand of the mobile grid 3 is a collecting cup 12, which is in communication by the pipes 13, 14 with a chamber 15 for separating the dust, which is provided at the right end of the oven and which opens through a channel 16 into a suction blower 17 at the foot of the chimney 18.
The blower 17 is actuated by means of an electric motor 19 and sucks the combustion air through the front left opening of the tunnel oven, in the opposite direction to the direction of advance of the grate 3. , above the upper surface of the grille and through the latter and its protective lining, down into the ducts 13,
14, through the dust separation chamber 15 and the channel 16, after which the waste gases enter the chimney 18.
Above the left end, protruding in front of the oven, of the mobile grid 3 is arranged a pin cylinder 21, which is actuated for example by a chain transmission 20 from the shaft 6. and which rotates in the opposite direction of cylinder 4; this spiked cylinder 21 divides the sintered product in the form of a cake and drives it into a screening drum 22, the wall being formed by screens comprising different perforations in the length direction.
The fraction of fine material, with a grain size of 0 to 3 mm, is separated in the front part of this drum 22 into a container 33, from which it arrives as recovery material by a conveyor belt 24 to. the place of preparation of the raw material and serves for the control of the moisture content, as long as it is not used for other purposes, for example for the production of a mixed binder. In the rear part of the sieve the fraction of material, with a grain size of 3 to 15 mm, is separated into a container 25 and is fed from it by a conveyor belt 26 to part 8. of the hopper, to be used as a protective lining for the grid.
The coarse grain is led, at the front end of the screening drum, in a manner not shown, to a pumice stone crusher of the usual type. Control of the rotational movement of drum 22 is not shown and can also take place from shaft 6 and motor 10.
In the case of the transportable installation, used for example for the manufacture of cement, according to Figs, 3 and 4, the group of furnaces proper again comprises a tunnel furnace, in which a mobile grid moves from the left to the right by its upper strand in the direction of the arrow; this tunnel oven is constituted by a casing of sheet or steel profiles 31 with a solid masonry 27., The movable grate 32 is constructed in the manner known in the art of hearths and is provided with an electric control 28, the speed of which can be adjusted as required. The lower part 33 of the furnace tunnel is interrupted for the purpose of cooling the grate by the fresh air and for sucking the gases from the furnace, The details of this construction corresponding to those of FIGS. 1 and 2.
As therein, a protective lining for the grate and the material to be cooked are supplied by a hopper 34 and loading cylinders 29, which can be controlled by the transmission 30 from the motor 28. .
In the case where the combustible materials, as well as in the case of fig. 1 and 2, are mixed in the material to be subjected to cooking, ignition takes place with oil or by a gas or electric flame at 35, in a manner analogous to FIGS. 1 and 2. It is not necessary, however, that the material to be subjected to the cooking contains the fuel, and it can be cooked in oil or by a flame of ,, gas, if necessary with gas of. gasifier produced by locally available fuels.
<Desc / Clms Page number 8>
The combustion air is brought, from the unloading end 36, to the tunnel of the furnace 37, against the current with respect to the direction of advance of the movable grate and arrives at the point of alla - Mage 38 and is sucked down through the material to be subjected to combustion, at 39, as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2. In this way, the air at the inlet cools the material whose cooking has been completed, heats up on this material and on the walls of the furnace and produces high temperatures already after the ignition of the stove. combustible. All this makes it possible to make the oven relatively short.
At the loading end of the furnace is connected a dust collector 40, with use of waste heat and with corresponding blower 41 also as in the case of FIGS. 1 and 2,;
The whole installation can be placed on a low-construction cart 42 and can be transported at will using the latter, for example by towing. If necessary, the cart can be rigidly and / or connected. removable to the furnace installation and also 'be provided with a drive motor and a steering apparatus as a self-propelled unit.
Where appropriate, the installation 40 for dedusting and using the waste heat constitutes a removable part of the tunnel kiln proper, which can in this case be transported separately.
It is understood that it is possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, to make modifications to parts of the installations according to figs 1 to 4.
